Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara and Lashliner review

I'm always on the look out for the perfect mascara. I get really excited when a new one is launched. I always think, will this one be the one to give me lashes like the models in mascara ads? Then I remember that those models in the ads are almost always wearing lash inserts and mascara alone won't give me that look. But never mind, a girl can hope.

A few weeks ago I was sent some samples of the Revlon Grow Luscious mascara and Lashliner (that's right, lashliner, not eyeliner) to try.

I've been using these every day since I got them and here are my thoughts on both.

Grow Luscious Plumping Mascara in Blackest Black
"Conditioning formula helps strengthen and plump lashes for up to 200% instantly for maximum volume"

The first thing that I noticed is how big the wand was. Not big as in fat, but big as in long. Some people might find it a bit awkward at first as it is longer than normal mascaras, but for me it made it quicker to apply the mascara as I could cover more lash area with one swipe.

I didn't see much volumising with this mascara, but I did see more of a lengthening effect. My favourite part is the colour, it makes lashes really really black.

The formula is a bit wet, so during the first couple of days I found it a bit too wet to work with, but after about the 3rd day it thickened a bit and became much easier to apply. Overall for me this won't get HG status but it is a good every day mascara if you like your lashes black and long. As for whether they made my lashes grow luscious? I haven't seen a difference in the 2 weeks of use.

Grow Luscious Lashliner in Onyx
"Delivers ultra intense color impact in one stroke. Botanical and vitamin rich formula nourishes and supports healthy lashes."

This is fantastic, it's extra black, extra intense, and stays put on the inner rims of my eyes without melting off. It's quite a soft pencil and its intensity reminds me of Urban Decay's pencil in Zero (which I ran out of, hence no comparison swatch).

It's very smooth and has an almost gel like effect. Because it's so soft, it's perfect for tightlining (lining the upper inside rims of your eyes). I'll definitely be purchasing this when it runs out.

In Australia the mascara retails for $21.95AUD and the pencil for $23.95AUD.

Have you tried this mascara or eyeliner yet?

  3. Hi. I live in the United States, and are these products really $23 each for you??
I bought the mascara a few months ago and its only $8 here. I think I actually bought it for $3 something because it was 40% off and then I had a $1 off coupon. I just figured Revlon for more of a global brand that the price wouldn't be that different. Love the blog.

  4. Gianna - this one is definitely good for the waterline, plus it's really soft so won't drag. Another good one for the waterline is Jordana waterproof pencil but that one isn't easy to find for me, so if you find it nab it up, it's like $3.

Elly - the mascara was out here longer than the pencil, so hopefully the pencil will make an appearance there soon!

Sunnydee130 - yep, they are really that expensive here. :( All makeup here in Australia is at least double the price of those sold in US and UK, which is why we try to do as much online shopping as we can.

  6. I love products that encourage lash growth - that's so so so so so important. The eyeliner looks great! With the mascara, personally I prefer something with a smaller wand because I have these annoying side-lashes that are impossible to get with a huge brush, but it seems like it performs well.

  7. I like how you mentioned this liner is comparable to UD. I've never found a liner I've like more than UD 24/7 liner. Maybe this will be an alternate if I ever run out of Zero (which isn't likely, I have so many backups).

  8. I really like this mascara. I agree, not a HG product but really nice for everyday. Some people have said they don't like the bigger wand, but I prefer it. As for the eye.. er, lashliner, I haven't tried that yet but now I need it! Thanks for the review :) xoxo

  9. Tali - UD is not even available here in AUS (booo), so I'll be sticking with this one too in the meantime.

Clare - I know what you mean about the side lashes, I have them too and a lot of the time I don't even bother trying to cover them with mascara as I'll just end up with marks on my lids.

PinkGlitter - LOL, i love how you have so many back ups of UD Zero, I've only ever had one of them which came with my NP. Unfortunately UD is not sold here, so it's revlon for me.

Joann - I'm thinking the reason it's a lashliner is because maybe it's easier to get into the lash area, it's softer. Otherwise it looks and acts just like an eyeliner!

  11. Wha! If it's here, and it's Revlon then it's super to be cheaper than an UD so i'm definitely up to try it!

    (P.S. ; _ ; Hiiii! I'm Baack. ; _ ; I missed reading your blog~)

  13. I tried the mascara and was not really a fan of it. I found it similar to your review in that the formula was very wet and it didn't volumize my lashes at all.

  14. Jerry - I wish I still had my UD liner left, then I could do a proper comparison. But they do feel very similar.

Eden - welcome back! So I'm guessing your lap top is alive and well? I missed your blog posts too. Get back into it!

SD - yep, definitely better than some.

Christina - Once it dried a bit it was good. This actually works really well layered over a volumising mascara, as this gives it length.

  15. Interesting review Lilit. I have been considering giving this one a go myself, but as always Revlon stings the wallet.
