I've been dying my hair darkest brown for a long time, so that bunch of grey is invisible most of the time. But sometimes in between colouring, and depending on how I've parted my hair, that annoying little bunch comes out of hiding for the world to see.
And that's when my secret weapon comes to the rescue.
1000 Hour Hair Colour Mascara in Black
This comes in a range of colours to suit most hair colours, from light brown to black. I bought the black one as I thought it was the closest colour match for me. I bought mine from Priceline for around $10, and I don't know whether it was on sale or not but on their website it says its $17. Either way this is definitely a lifesaver for me... ok, that's maybe a bit too dramatic. It doesn't save lives, but it does hide greys.
I apply it on days when the grey is extra visible, and it's dry within 30 seconds without any transfer on to your fingers if you touch your hair where the mascara is. And of course it washes off in water in no time.
Of course you could use a regular mascara to hide any stray greys, but just think back to what happens to your lashes when you apply mascara? That's right, they go a little crunchy. Do you want that crunchy feeling in your hair?
Have you got any stray grey hair? Or am I just getting old? Shock, horror!
PS: I realise this probably sounds like an advertisement, but I'm not affiliated with this brand or with any stockists. I'm just happy to have found something to hide my grey in between colourings.
I have SO many greys but I would never have thought of this!xx
ReplyDeleteI also have pesky grey hairs on my roots in the front, and they are so annoying. I purchase clairol's root touch-up every 3-4 weeks or so to help hide them.
ReplyDeleteI think its hereditary in my family, because I am only 23 and already I have grey hairs :( This product sounds great and seems like a neat quick fix :)
I'm going to have to get some of this! I have been going grey since about 23. I usually have my hair highlighted which helps conceal the greys. But I have it dyed dark right now and they show up bad between colorings! Thanks for sharing this!
ReplyDeletejust found your blog! love it! :) definitely following.

I watched a thing on TV that suggested women use Just For Men beard dye for their touchups. Hee!
ReplyDeleteI found my first one this year, it was freaky. I felt better when my mom burst out laughing at me. Anyway, I have light brown hair, so it's not as noticeable. Right now I just pluck the 3 or 4 I have, but I may look into ways like this to hide them rather than yanking them out every few weeks.
ReplyDeleteYour blog rocks, btw. Hello from Brooklyn, NY! I love reading your stuff and the layout is gorgeous, as are you. ;)
Please Lillit what is the colour on your nails? It's awesome <3
ReplyDeleteI've had a few stray greys since I was 22 (i'm now 30) it's the only reason I have to continually colour my hair otherwise I simply wouldn't bother lol!! Must give hair mascara a go!
ReplyDeletewow that's great! i'll be able to recommend that to a few people i know who have troubles with that!

You are amazing Lilit! I don't have any greys at the moment but I will definitely remember to use mascara if I do see any!
ReplyDeleteOh man I have LOADS of grey hair.. but I dont really do anything about it. Because my natural hair color is ash brown..they just look like highlights!
ReplyDeleteI use something called Golden Rose Hair Color stick, it looks like a lipstick and works fine too, though makes the hair feel dry.
ReplyDeleteBut this one looks better, must try now. I love not having to color my hair frequently just to hide the grays.
