My HG foundation

I often get asked what foundation I'm wearing, both in RL (Real Life) and BL (Blog Life), and almost every single time people are surprised by my answer.

My HG foundation is none other than....

Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse!

I have two shades, Nude and Sandy Beige and often mix the colours to customise it to my skintone at the time. Though you can't tell in the pic above, Nude is slightly more yellow based and lighter than Sandy Beige.

It claims to give an airbrush finish and I'd have to agree with that. It gives a medium coverage which hides all flaws and doesn't look cakey at all.

Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse in Sandy Beige

It is quite creamy so I always use a transluscent powder to set it as it can make you look a bit shiny without powdering.

Up until recently I'd been using the Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder in Transluscent to blot the shine. This is one of those powders I keep re-purchasing, it's very cheap and available at Priceline, Target, Kmart, etc.

Here is my skin using the foundation and blotted with the Rimmel powder. (click on the pic to enlarge)

And recently I purchased MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural powder in Medium because I felt I needed a change. This powder gives some extra coverage if you feel the foundation alone is not enough.

Here is my skin using the foundation and blotted with the MSFN.

What is your holy grail foundation?

Have you used this Maybelline foundation before?

  5. This looks great on you. I haven't tried the maybelline foundation but will definitely keep it in mind. I love Revlon foundations and have used them for years.

  6. @Ling Tung - definitely affordable, which is good as you know chanel, mac, etc are ridiculously overpriced here.

  7. @Danni - I used to use Revlon but the colours just didn't work on me, too pink based. Maybelline has wider range of colours that suit my skin, plus they're cheaper :)

  8. Interesting post.
    How is Stay Matte powder?
I have 2 colors of Stay Matte foundation in my kit. I sometimes mix with other cream foundation. It photographs well in photoshoots. :)

  9. You have no pores! You lucky duck ;)

And for the millionth time, you have really nice skin. haha.

I am STILL trying to get through a bottle of my YSL foundation to purchase the Maybelline liquid mousse. I'm half way through..

I've been to Cosmo Cosmetics a couple of times and they have a lot of high end products there and nearly half the price! I even saw Versace I think. Last time I was there, they also had YSL lippies but the colour range was limited.

  10. @Flora D - i quite like the stay matte powder, but lasting power isn't that great. On me it lasts about 5-6hrs and then I start getting shiny again. The mac one is def longer lasting.

  16. Beautiful! The foundation really does cover well, I'm definitely impressed. My go-to foundation is Youngblood's Loose Mineral Powder in Pearl. I am extremely fair and love the coverage and color of this brand

  20. Okay, so I'm not unhappy with my foundation - I use a mineral powder foundation that gives buildable coverage and a lovely finish... but I do wonder what else is out there. I have combination skin and I think Lilit's Maybelline might be too moist. Any of you girls got other suggestions? I don't care if it's budget or expensive. Should I head to a MAC counter?

    1. On my skin when powdered down it stays all day, 7 am to 9pm. It will depend on your skin tone.

  26. I've heard many ppl like this foundation ..but I'm scared it'll break me out cuz I have very sensitive skin! How well does it control oil as I have oily skin?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. oh I don't think it would be any good for oily skin as it's quite thick and oily. it's really only good for dry skin so if you have sensitive oily skin perhaps stay away from it.
