Special occasion not needed

Growing up with a glamorous mum meant that I was always overdressed for any occasion. As a child I didn't know any better, as a teenager I absolutely hated it as I just wanted to blend in with the rest of the kids. As an adult I've grown to appreciate the sense of glamour my mum has instilled in me. Yes, I am one of those people that wears makeup to do the grocery shopping. I wear my most expensive perfume whenever I feel like it, even if it's just to take my little boy to playgroup. And if I want to wear an exquisite statement necklace during daytime to glam up a boring black T, then I will do it. Special occasion not needed.

Key products used for this look are:

The rest of the makeup is as follows:

Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish foundation in Beige (review HERE)
The Make Up Store powder in Stockholm
Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Dollface (review HERE)
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Porcelain Pink (review HERE)
Chanel Illusion D'Ombre eyeshadow in Ebloui (review HERE)
Jordana Colour Extend eyeliner in Blackout
Covergirl LashBlast Fusion Mascara in Black (review HERE)
Styli-Style lip pencil in Monte Carlo
MAC lipglass in Oyster Girl

This necklace that I'm wearing was gifted to me by Earth Stone Jewellery who stock beautiful pieces handcrafted from natural materials. And it doesn't cost the Earth (no pun intended!). This gorgeous necklace is only $32.95. But wait, they have offered Makeup and Macaroons readers 20% off their orders until 10 April 2013 by using the code MAKEUPANDMACAROONS. So do check them out, guaranteed you'll like something that will suit you.

Do you save beautiful pieces for special occasions or are you like me and happy to dress up for any occasion?

  2. hehe, Im exactly like you - grew up with a mum who always completely glammed up with nice dresses and full makeup, just to go to the supermarket, - and that has now stuck with me too!!!

  3. I love doing my make up and dressing up on a daily basis. It's the thing that gets me out of bed. I live in a small country town and wear falsies to Coles, just because I was randomly playing around with my makeup before that! Not everyone understands though. My husband thinks it's all vanity!

    1. Hehe I can just see you with falsies at Coles. Well considering your husband married you that means he loves you and all your vanities (not that it's vanity!) so he shouldn't complain :)

  4. I'm happy to dress up whenever I feel like it! Life is way too short to save up all the good stuff for special occasions. Every single day is special, methinks :) xx

  5. My other half is always asking me why I insist on getting myself done up "as if I was going to a ball" (his words) just to pop out to get some milk. I honestly can't remember the last time we had to go to a ball, so my argument is you have to take your opportunities where you can!!
ps - that lipgloss looks amazing on you!!

    1. Haha, you don't got to balls all the time. Aah men, they just don't get it :) Though my man has come to accept it now and knows that I will never leave the house without makeup on.

  9. I wish i were more like you. I have odd days where i fright people when i pick up my children from school in full on glam makeup and other days i look like a zombie with none on at all.

I wish i were a glam mum all of the time. I'm too much of a slob to keep up the effort 100% of the time.

    1. I'd feel too much like a zombie if I left home without makeup, I wouldn't want to give people a fright hence I'm always made up. Plus I wouldn't really feel like "me" otherwise. And nothing wrong with being a slob sometimes, we all need those days!

  10. You look gorgeous Lilit! And I am right there with ya on the dressing up for any-old-day. I read a story when I was younger about a woman who purchased a fancy dress and was waiting to wear it to a special occassion. Well, she passed away without ever wearing it and I thought how sad that was. So I say don't wait and celebrate each day beautifully :)

    1. Oh that's so sad about the woman, but that just proves you can't be waiting for that special occasion to treat yourself, and need to enjoy each day as it comes! xx

    1. I'm wearing it over a much darker lipliner, otherwise Oyster Girl is quite pale on its own. :)

  14. I completely agree! I actually don't walk out my door without putting some effort into my look. Yes, I wear makeup and a nice statement necklace with my leather jacket to buy some milk and a few other things at the store. Why? Because I love wearing it. It's fun to put it on! And I never pass up a moment to wear a statement necklace. I make so many of them, why wouldn't I enjoy them? Glam it up girl!
