Step by Step: Super simple grey smokey eye

I love a good smokey eye and over time and practice I've learned to really simplify how I do my smokey eye looks using only a few shadows and taking around 5 - 10 mins max.

This super quick look is pretty much what I do on a daily basis, I just change the colours a bit but the steps are the same.

Here are the 6 simple steps I follow.

I hope you found this mini tutorial useful.

Do you love a smokey eye? Have you perfected the look yet?

    i love your smokey eye. sometimes smokey eyes just mean "BLACK EVERYWHERE" but you've done a great job with the grey :)

    Thank you Lilit... I'm so hopeless at applying eyeshadow & this tutorial is perfect! Definitely need to try it.
    I've bookmarked it on my phone to try on the weekend :)

  7. @Clare - thanks babe. I really like the BLACK EVERYWHERE look on some girls, but on me it just looks like I have racoon eyes so this is the best I can get away with.

    @Leah - thanks hun, I think black is harsh on a lot of people, whereas with shimmery greys it's a bit more forgiving and suits more people.

    @Mez - thanks babe xo

    @Cosmetic - junkie - thanks hun ox

    @BeautyScholar - yep, love my LashBlast, my new HG! x

  9. Great tutorial! I'm rubbish at doing smokey eyes so this is really helpful. Your lashes look lovely in the photos too! Shame we can't get Cover girl products in the UK x

  16. Lilit, I tried it last night and it was a TOTAL FAIL! (hides head in shame) But I did rush through it and just made a mess.
    LOL :)
    BUT, I will try it again (on Saturday as Hubby has told me he has plans to watch sport all day) and if it's a success, I will definitely do a blog post.

    Hope you're having a lovely day! (or is it in evening already in Aus?)

  17. I will give it a go this weekend and see how I go. Yr eyes look amazing and I think the smokey grey is more flattering than black. Too grey doesn't suit me, I need a bit more warmth in my colours or I just look like I'm bruised so I'll head towards taupes and browns. I'm so glad you posted this - thanks, it's a great tutorial. Is it too greedy to ask at some time for a more complicated version. This one's called super simple which just makes me wonder... what is un-simple? eg. what extra steps would you add or technique change etc to do something you might wear for a special occasion. It doesn't have to be this weekend, we can wait until next ;-) xx

  18. Grey always compliments brown eyes, very pretty! Also, that mascara looks wonderful on your lashes.

  19. This is a lovely take on a smokey eye, I really like how you wing out the khol liner and smudge it, I'd never have thought of that very nice look though.

    Also your lashes look gorgeous x

  20. Thanks so much everyone for your lovely comments, it really is fairly easy to do with a bit of practice.

    @Laigah - hun give it a try again, hope it works and let me know about it

    @Kath - tell you the truth I'm usually really lazy so no matter what colours I choose for a smokey eye I go with this quickie method. But I will try to do a proper full on one in the next few days and will post it. The extra steps would probably be with more use of black eyeliner, maybe even doing a better cut in the crease.
