My morning makeup routine & Luca makes an appearance

I thought I'd give you a glimpse into my morning makeup routine, the steps I take to get ready for the day. Yes, I am one of those people that don't feel ready to face the day until my makeup is done. While the steps each day are the same, the length of time it takes varies everyday as a lot of it depends on whether my husband is around to look after our 18 month old boy while I get ready, or if I need to entertain our toddler in between brush strokes. On this particular day that I took photos for this tutorial, the son and the husband were playing in the backyard so I had a lot of time to get ready AND take pics! Oh and yes, that IS a towel on my head. I had just washed my hair but not dried it yet.

Step 1 - Foundation. I generally use my fingers to slap on foundation, but some foundations need a brush in order to blend in, and for that I use my Sigma E80 brush.
Step 2 - Powder. I always set my foundation with powder, as I find it makes it last longer and requires less touch ups during the day.
Step 3 - Contour. Yes, I do light contouring of my face every day. For my everyday contouring routine click HERE.
Step 4 - Brows. I'm obsessed with brows, they are essential to my daily beauty routine as they really frame the face. For my eyebrow routine click HERE.
Step 5 - Eyeshadow and liner. This is where time varies, it can take as little as 2 minutes or as long as 15 minutes depending on the look I'm going for. You can see my tutorial for this particular look HERE.
Step 6 - Mascara. I generally apply 2 to 3 coats of mascara on top and bottom lashes as I like them mega thick and volumised.
Step 7 - Blush. I tend to leave blush towards the end, as the colour and amount of blush depends on how heavy I've gone with my eyes. If I've done really dark eyes then I might choose a lighter blush, and vice versa.
Step 8 - Lipstick. I always leave lipstick to last so I don't smear it while I finish getting ready. In fact on the days I go to work I don't apply lipstick till I'm either in the car or at work, just so I can leave my lips bare to give my son a million kisses on my way out.

And there you have it, my makeup routine.

The products used are:
  • Arcancil Foundation in 20 mixed with Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse in Nude
  • Maybelline 24hr Superstay powder in Sand (this is fantastic, and is a repurchase for me)

  • Beauty Cottage Gorgeous Palette - review HERE
  • Rimmel Eyebrow pencil in Black/Brown
  • Max Factor False Lash Effect mascara in black

Hope you enjoyed this little glimpse into what it takes to get ready in the morning.

I leave you with this photo of me and my son, it's a little bit blurry but then again all photos with him are blurry now since he's a little energiser bunny and won't stand still for even a second.

    1. That's our sunroom babe, it's got windows/doors on 3 sides so we get really lovely natural light in. And as for Luca, would you believe that's who he sleeps, with his arms tightly around my neck. It's very cute, but if it's a hot night he almost strangles me :-)

    1. I don't use concealer all the time, only if I've really messed the edges. I also use a matte white eyeshadow just under the brows to tidy up the edges if needed. xx
