Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse review and before & after pics

I received a request to review this foundation after I mentioned it in my haul post HERE. I've actually been using the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation on and off for about 5 years, I even wore it on my wedding day, so you know that I rate it quite highly. This is aimed at those with normal to oily skins, but I have fairly dry skin yet have no problems wearing this.

REVIEW
  • Coverage: Medium to full, buildable.
  • Consistency/Texture: Bouncy mousse like texture. Quite heavy feeling but spreads easily on the face. I apply using my fingers as I find the warmth of my fingers help blend this in easily.
  • Longevity: Long lasting. Worn with a powder on top I get 12+ flawless finish, without a powder I get 8hrs. Note that I have dry skin, so if your skin is oily this may not last as long.
  • Colours: There are 8 colours to choose from, some are yellow based, some pink. I wear Nude 04 which is a great match for my NC25 skintone.

Let's see how this looks on the skin shall we? As you can see from the pic below, this provides absolutely flawless finish. I'm not wearing concealer or powder in the pic on the right yet my skin looks smooth and evened out.

And here's the full finished face, where I've worn powder (Maybelline 24hr SuperStay) and blush (Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Dollface) on top.

Have you tried this foundation? What do you think of it?

  1. This foundation has got to be one of my top favourites also. I too have dry-ish skin, but it sits beautifully on and the staying power is fabulous. You look absolutely beautiful in these pics, both with and without makeup Xx

    1. Aww thanks babe! I'm taking this overseas with me as I won't have to worry about taking concealer as well. xx

  2. I remember trying this foundation when it was first released and it was horrible. It didn't blend, it just balled up and fell of the skin. Glad to see it is different now :)

    1. I don't think they've changed the formula, I think it just depends on your skin type. I've also found if I wear a moisturiser underneath and not wait for it to sink in before I apply this I get that balling that you mention. Right now I love it though :)

  5. I honestly didn't even know this was still on the market. A friend of mine used to use it years ago, and I always remember wondering how that weird texture applied. Looks great, though. Might have to try it out next time.

  9. This has to be my favourite foundation. I've used it over the years and even now, when I'm not using BB-Cream. Some people find it too heavy, but blending it in with your hands give you a lot more control over the finished look. Great review!
