We went for the morphology scan today and I'm happy to report everything is growing perfectly with the baby. It is now 16.5cm and weighs almost 300 grams, which is just a bit chunkier than the average for 19wks.
In fact I can stop referring to the baby as IT, and call it a HE. That's right, we're having a little baby BOY!!! Knowing the gender of the baby is making it all the more real for us, and I'm starting to freak out.
Freaking out
One of the reasons I'm freaking out is because currently the baby's room looks like this.

Bump watch
As you can see from the pictures I've started showing more now, and I've taken to wearing belts above my belly to accentuate it more and let people know that the extra weight is not because of too many cheesecakes (though that is something I'm still indulging in every now and then), but is because of a little boy that's growing in there.
I still get tired quickly, and I've started huffing and puffing if I walk somewhere really fast, but apart from that the only thing really bugging me at the moment is heartburn. Even eating boring bland food (hard for a spice lover like me) still causes heartburn. I don't have any weird food cravings, much to the disappointment of the husband who no doubt wanted to see me eat pickles dipped in ice cream.
That's my little belly update for this week. If anyone has any tips on how to avoid or get rid of heartburn I'd love to hear it!
Congratulations!!! You must be so excited!! And you look absolutely amazing! x
ReplyDeleteThank you so much xo
DeleteYou look beautiful, by the way! Congrats for a boy, how adorable. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks hun, xo
DeleteYou look so lovely and happy and dare I say it... glowing. I love it when people find out the sex, it makes it seem more like I little person growing not just an "it". And for everyone else it makes it soooo much easier to buy a gift ! So thanks for not being selfish. I know someone who found out the sex but wouldn't tell anyone else! People say they like a surprise but I reckon the whole next six months and in particular the birth is one bloody big surprise! So putting an identity to your growing belly is a lovely focus.
ReplyDeleteOh we never even thought about NOT finding out. No generic lemon yellow gifts for our little one. :-) And yeah, why find out if you're not even going to tell others. As for the surprise thing, whether I'm surprised at 19weeks or surprised at birth, no difference for me.
DeleteHow exciting. You're looking beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. :-)
DeleteYou look fab!!!!! Congrats for the baby boy :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!
DeleteYou look great! How exciting for you - I got lots of heartburn with my first child and I loved to eat dry biscuits 'clix' or even 'teddy bear' biscuits usually helped settle it or drinking mineral water was great too.
ReplyDeleteI've been munching on dry biscuits sometimes which helps, thanks!
DeleteCongratz! I'm sure everything will come together for your baby's room. All the best! :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. I'm not sure if you are interested but just in case you are, my blog is having a giveaway.
Thanks hun, hopefully the baby room will be ready in time! As for the giveaway, I didn't enter (I have too much stuff!), but I did spread the word on twitter so hope you get more entrants!
Deletecongrats..you look beautiful, stay healthy and happy:)

ReplyDeleteOoh Lilit, you look lovely! I'll you can't wait to meet your little son. xoxo
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Very exciting news
ReplyDeleteOhh, a boy, congratulations! I had horrible heartburn with my pregnancy and I found that yoghurt and milkshakes helped. They were the only thing that calmed it down.
ReplyDeleteI was told by quite a few people tha tif you have heartburn then the baby will have a good head of hair. My bub had a full head of hair when he was born, so I don't know if that was a coincidence or if the people were right :)
I'd heard that too about heartburn and hair, and so far everyone I've spoken to has confirmed it! Well considering both the dad and I have thick hair it might actually be true. :-)
DeleteCongrats! It just be so exciting to know that it's a boy :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! That is so amazing, and super exciting too :)

congrats on the baby boy!! you are just glowing:]
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the baby boy!! When I was pregnant with my daughter, that was the first time I experienced all day heartburn. For me what worked, believe it or not, was chewing gum. I liked peppermint, or spearmint to try to take the edge off the burning, and believe it or not it worked. So try it and see how it goes! Couldn't hurt right?
ReplyDeleteChewing gum is actually one of those things I've gone off since the pregnancy! weird, I know, but no matter what I chew I get a really bad bitter taste in my mounth. Maybe I'll try some extra strong peppermint one and see if that helps! Thanks.
DeleteCongrats u look gorgeous hun !!! :)
