The problem is the lippy is fast diminishing in its tube and I can't find a replacement. The brand is called Classics and the shade is #227. In the tube it looks like any ordinary cool toned bright pink, but on lips you can see the purple undertones. I can't find this for sale anywhere, online or in shops. And I also can't find good dupes for it. Obviously flying almost 12,000kms to Armenia for this lipstick is not really an option.
I thought Lime Crime Airborne Unicorn would be similar, but alas it is too blue toned. Someone suggested MAC Up The Amp, but that too is not a dupe. It's far too dark for it. So now I turn to you dear readers, can you help me find a good dupe for this colour?
For reference, here is how it compares to Airborne Unicorn and Up The Amp.
If you know of a similar shade or can tell me where I can buy this lipstick let me know! Obviously it needs to either be available in Australia or at least ship to Australia. Thanks in advance!
Gorgeous shades!!! I have Up the Amp and LOVE it!
ReplyDeletethe texture might not be the same, but have you tried swatching covergirl lip perfection lipstick in divine? it's the only close one i can think of....
ReplyDeleteFrom the swatches online Divine does look very similar but I've actually never seen this shade sold here in Australia. Maybe they haven't released the shade here? Is it a new shade?
DeleteHmm to me it looks similar to the Collection 2000 Bubblegum lipstick (now just Collection)
ReplyDeleteI did a post where I swatched it, here is the link if it is any help http://alittleboatsailing.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/whilst-out-searching-for-fathers-day.html
Now, I don't know if you can get it internationally but Boots sell Collection as do Superdrug so they may ship to you :)
Amy xx
Also, maybe check out Mac Play Time :) x
DeleteHi Amy, both colours are a bit lighter than my one, plus unfortunately none of them ship to Australia. I wish Superdrug or Boots shipped here as there's so many things I'd love to buy from there. I will have to check out MAC Play Time though! Thanks for the recommendation! xx
DeleteMaybe Kiko luscious cream 517. Is there Kiko in Australia? If not, I can send it from Italy!
ReplyDeleteHi Dora,
DeleteNo we don't have Kiko here in Australia. I just had a look at their website and OMG such gorgeous gorgeous shades! Are you serious about sending them over from Italy? If yes, I would absolutely LOVE to try some of their products and of course I will completely pay all the costs plus shipping. Thanks for the offer!
Lilit
Sure! Let me know what you need! I whatch better, and the luscious cream 515 is very similar to Up the Amp: maybe it's that the one you whish!
DeleteThanks Dora! I'll have a look at the website and let you know what I'd like if that's ok. Do you have an email address? Or just email me at lilitsblog@gmail.com
DeleteThen you can tell me how I can send you the money and give my address, etc.
Thanks again!
Maybe you can find a cheap bright pink shade at a drugstore then mix it with the LimeCrime to make a close dupe. Then you might only be out a couple dollars if it doesn't work.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great idea! That way I won't feel that Lime Crime one is wasted either, as on its own it's too blue based purple to use. Thanks!
Deletei was about to say Lime Crime, but its seems you have it already!
ReplyDeleteI prefer your shade, I understand why you want another one!
Oh what about the Nicki Minaj Viva Glam?
ReplyDeleteHi Stephanie, I have the Nicki VG lippy and that one is too warm in comparison. I'll have to keep trying!
DeleteThe company Three Custom Color Specialists will recreate any color lipstick for you - you send them a little sample of the lipstick, they send you two full tubes that match the shade exactly. I haven't personally tried it, I've heard good things. Here's the link: http://www.threecustom.com/home.php?cat=253
ReplyDeleteI'm not affiliated in any way with them.
That website sounds amazing! I had a look at it and it would cost $60 + $11 postage to send to Australia (2 lippies) so it's a bit steep considering I bought the original for around $2 or $3. But I'm going to keep that website in mind if I ever want a discontinued shade copied! Thanks Emi!
DeleteMaybe one of the Barry M lip paints? http://musicalhouses.blogspot.com.au/2010/02/barry-m-lip-paints-swatches-part-2.html
ReplyDeleteOR Smashing from Shiro http://www.shirocosmetics.com/item_191/Smashing.htm
Ooooh I'm LOVING all the Barry M's you've swatched. I'm not sure if any of them would be good dupes but I do definitely want them all! There's only one store here in Australia that sells Barry M so I'll have to see if they have any of the pinks you swatched. Thanks!
Deletei agree that this purplish pink colour is super wearable and sweet, but I still kind of want to try lime crime airborne unicorn though xx
ReplyDeletewould you like to follow each other?

What about MAC Asian Flower from the sheen supreme range? Not as opaque but I think the colour match looks like it might be close!
ReplyDeleteSophie! That looks perfect! I think the colour match is very very close, putting an order for it RIGHT NOW :)
DeleteMAC's lipstick shade Pink Popcorn
ReplyDeleteJules x
I've never heard or seen that shade, is it new? I'll keep an eye out for it as the colour seems close (though it's a bit more pink than my lippy), but still lovely in its own way.
DeleteHow about OCC Pageant mixed with Feathered or something else a bit lighter? Although that is more effort ^_^
ReplyDeleteLOL, yep does sound like a lot more effort! But come to think of it I have Pageant as well as a white and a blue lip tar, maybe I can custom mix my own shade and keep it in a jar like that, then it's a lot less effort!
Deletehttp://www.makeupbycherylh.com/2013/02/purple-statement-lips-feat-mac-viva.html
ReplyDeleteViva glam nicki 2 mixed with mac magenta lip liner xx
DeleteOoooh that does look like a pretty good match, and i don't have the magenta lip liner so adding to my cart now! xo
DeleteThis color looks very similar to NYX Paris lipstick! I hope you find a good dupe! :)
ReplyDeleteI have NYX Paris but unfortunately Paris is a bit darker and less vibrant than this lippy. Someone suggested MAC Asian Flower which looks to be really close so I'll be trying that one!
DeleteAgree with Sophie, Asian Flower is probably closest and even if it isn't a dupe, it is something I think you would wear all the time. I love my tube of it, have blogged it before!
ReplyDeleteI saw it on your blog Emma, it looks great! I was about to order it last night but the MAC website kept crashing on me. Hoping it'll work today as that lippy looks GREAT!
DeleteWhat about MAC Candy Yum Yum? Maybe too much hot pink..but you can always mix and match with a gloss on top!
ReplyDeleteLike your blog a lot btw...wanna check out mine too, maybe follow each other? :)

Hello!!I'm a follower from Greece.
ReplyDeleteI just saw this post and when i saw the brand of the lipstick
i said ''i have to reply to her''.
We have this brand here and it's really cheap and can be found almost everywhere.
I also have this colour and love it!!!
I know that Greece is quite far away from Australia but
i could buy some for you..
I think that they are being sold here for 2 or 2,50euros
and that is about 2,5 or 3 AUD but i am not quite sure.
This brand has some lovely lipstick colours.
If you would like to ask me anything, don't hesitate
to let me know.
Hi Evi, thanks so much for your comment. That's fantastic they sell it in Greece and I'd love it if you could send it to me (I'd pay for all the costs and postage of course), but I don't want to cause too much trouble.
DeleteIs posting from Greece to Australia easy? I know from Europe it's generally quite difficult especially with customs forms to fill out, so maybe look into those first and if it's not too difficult or expensive then I'd love if you could send them to me. You can email me at lilitsblog@gmail.com.
Thanks!
Lilit

ReplyDeleteMac Lavender Whip looks similar in that it gives the cool blue yet purple undertones, it is part of the Baking Beauties collection that is yet to launch. I bet that mixed with the likes of up the amp or any other pinky/purple lipstick would be a good match. Also if you ever want to do a UK swap you know where I am. I hope you and the baby are both well :) xxx
