Mini Lime Crime Haul and Review

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes for yesterday. We had a quiet day at home as the temperature here in Sydney reached 43C (109F) so we just stayed indoors in air conditioning. On Saturday the husband will be taking me out to dinner to a restaurant we've not been to before because they are apparently famous for their seafood platters and I LOVE seafood platters. Nom nom.

Anyway, onto my haul post. Just before Christmas I made a small purchase of Lime Crime goodies from Makeupnet (super speedy delivery!) I bought two nail polishes and a lipstick from Lime Crime.
L/R: Milky Ways, Once In A Blue Mousse, Airborne Unicorn

Lime Crime nail polish in Milky Ways
I feel the name describes this shade perfectly. It's a creamy, milky off-white colour that looks great without giving you mannequin hands. Unfortunately the formula of this one was a bit streaky and it chipped the very next morning that I wore it. In the picture below I'm wearing 3 coats and you can still see the streakiness. I used this shade as the base for my glittery holiday manicure (tutorial HERE). AUD $9.99

This is a gorgeous pale Tiffany blue shade. It's not particularly unique, but if you're after a pastel blue this is a great option. You can get opaque coverage in either 2 thick coats or 3 thinner coats. I've got 3 thin coats on in this picture. Lasts about 4-5 days without chipping when worn with a topcoat. AUD $9.99

Lime Crime lipstick in Airborne Unicorn
I'd been after a cool toned lavender lipstick for some time now (don't ask me why, I just knew there was a gap in my collection), so this colour looked perfect based on the swatches and photos I saw online. Unfortunately it's a lot cooler and a lot more neon than it looks in photos so I'm not sure I'll get much wear out of it. Also it stains my lips big time! Once the lipstick wears off it leaves a really bright pink stain behind which is very very hard to remove. The only thing that gets rid of the stain is to use an oily eye makeup remover. Oh and for some reason the colour makes my skin and teeth look yellow. So yep, not happy with this particular shade. AUD $19.99

Have you tried anything from Lime Crime? Do you know of any wearable lavender lipsticks? Let me know please as I've got it in my head that I NEED a lavender lipstick and I won't rest until I find one.

  5. I like the lime crime primer the most out of anything they have released, nothing else seems to match that. I find their lipsticks a little picky to work with at times but their carousel glosses arent too bad and I have valentines on the way to me so hopefully they are better!

    1. I haven't tried anything else from LC but I'd have to agree their lippies are hard to work with! I had another colour once (I don't know what I've done with it now) and it stained like crazy, and wore off in a funny way. And thanks for the tip re the new Nicki colour, I'll have to keep an eye on it!

Violetta is way to bright and red to call it lavender

  8. Hi Lilit,

I'm sad you don't like Airbourne Unicorn. I absolutely adore this colour, neon and all! I'm actually on my third tube and really don't mind the stain that's left. I would recommend D'Lilac as this is a little softer lavender without the neon shades. But as you know, I'm really tanned, this looks awful on me, just turns out grey but you should try it out. :)

I have the whole collection of the polishes and I would say the lighter shades are very streaky. Very hard to work with.

    Love your review though :)

    1. Hi hun, D'Lilic is far too light for me but I should be able to make Airborne Unicorn work with the right lipliner. It's mainly the staining I don't like. Oh and I've got my eye on the rest of the LC pastel polishes, especially lavendairy so I might have to put in another order for sure!

  9. I think the colour suits you - I'm always jealous of how you can pull off so many lip colours! <3

    1. Oh trust me, there are so many colours i CAN"T pull off! I've just worked out which colours don't suit me (overly warm shades) and I stay clear of them :)

  10. A belated happy birthday to you Lilit! I've tried most of the new Lime Crime polishes and I agree the formula is a bit hit and miss - Milky Ways is next on my list to wear so we'll see how I go with it! xo
