I may or I may not be stuck in a hairstyle rut!

This is me circa 1982.

This is me in 2012. The fringe is parted to the other side, I've clearly discovered GHD so the cowlicks are under control, but the bob haircut is the same!

Time for a change? THIS is the hairdo I want!

It will take a bit of work, and I don't know if I'll ever get there, but I'll keep this photo for inspiration for every time the urge to get my hair bobbed again takes over.

Hands up who else is stuck in a hairstyle rut?

  1. What a cutie you were {are}!! I absolutely adore your hair in a bob, but I can definitely see anything suiting you! I just got six inches cut off my hair {so the black will grow out faster, haha} and as much as I love it and it is SO much easier to maintain, I am always dreaming of long hair :) e. Xx

    1. I always dream of having long hair, but once my hair gets a certain length I get itchy and cut it off. And you my dear, you need to go back to blogging! That is all.

    2. Oh I know, I know. I considered it at about 2am today when I couldn't sleep.

  2. I really like both photos of you, the innocent little child and the 'innocent' adult lol! Really like your hair short, esp the fringe I've been trying to get mine to look like that for ages. Good luck with growing your hair out, it has taken me a while as I always end up cutting it off when I'm in my 'feel like a change mood' :) x

    1. Innocent, ha ha. Ok maybe the child one. Your hair looks lovely, you shouldn't cut it coz then you'll end up regretting it like I do everytime I get a haircut.

  3. Well, I know I have a genetic predisposition to the dreaded 'hairstyle rut'. For the past 20 or more years, my mother has had the same style, cut and colour. For years I also had the same style (not the same as my mother, but my own style didn't change, haha) which I was unsatisfied with. But, a little less than a year ago now, I cut off my long mid-back length hair into a pixie cut! So glad I did it... :D

  4. Wow! That's a big change. Very brave of you! I love pixie cuts but I don't think I'd be game enough to try it.

  8. Lilit you beauty! I think a short bob suits you perfectly... Maybe you should grow it out to a longer bob? (Lob I think it's called?) Maybe you should try hair extensions?
The Rachel Bilson style would look gorgeous on you!

    1. Yeah that's what I want, a Lob so I can do more with it. I've tried extensions before but hated the heavy feeling in my hair so I don't think I'll go back.

  9. It's never been so easy to grow out my hair as it's been with an infant in tow. Way too easy to "forget" to book the appointment with so much going on. Let yourself coast on autopilot until the lucky girl/boy is 2. By then, you'll have mermaid hair and can cut it into whatever you want!

    1. Aah great tip! I can totally see myself being too busy to notice I haven't had a haircut when the bub is here, and as you said, mermaid hair here I come!

  10. Super cute Lilit! Just keep communicating your vision to your hairdresser cos I know they can sometimes take over with their own creative ideas (or creative rut for that matter).

  11. I'm growing my hair out again and THIS TIME I plan on doing something with the long longs as opposed to just pinning them up. Hairstyle rut begone!

  12. It would certainly be nice if we could all look like Rachel Bilson :)
I am trying to grow my hair so I am in a little bit of a rut I think... but I still want it a bit longer before I do anything drastic to it.

  14. You were so cute! :)

I love your hair as is, but I think the photo you've chosen as inspiration is really gorgeous!

I too am stuck in a rut :)

  15. Hands up! Your so-called "rut" is a great look, too, but I say you only live once so go for a new look whenever you get the itch :D

  16. Your current hairstyle looks great! But that Rachel Bilson hairstyle is cute :)

  17. I veery slightly got out of my hairstyle rut... except for one brief flirtation with a bob, my hair has always been long (mid back) and straight, and brown! But the thing is.... blonde is too much work, black doesn't suit my skintone, I'm scared of red because reddish-browns don't look good on me... and my hair hates to hold a curl! LOL So I'm left with few options! But I recently cut bangs, before I just had really subtle side swept ones that were mostly grown out - they're much bolder now. I love my hair though LOL.... and I think you would look AMAZING with that hair style! It's so pretty!
