Why such a name? Because it's meant to be the only lipstick you will ever need as it will meet all your needs from a lippie. That's a pretty big claim, but does it deliver? Well, it depends what you're looking for in a lipstick, really.

The lipsticks are all very pigmented with intense colour pay off, you don't need to swipe the lippies several times to get them to show on your lips. They're also super creamy and very weightless, it almost feels like you're wearing a balm instead of a lipstick. The formulation reminds me a lot of the YSL Rouge Couture line of lippies which retail for, oh I don't know, maybe 10 times the price of these ones. So I'd say in terms of colour and formulation, these lipsticks definitely deliver.

What it does not deliver is longevity. Because it's so creamy it comes off pretty much at first contact with coffee cups, food, cutlery, etc. So if your list of demands from a lipstick includes lasting power, then this is not your Only One. But if you don't mind reapplying your lipsticks every few hours then you can't go past these little beauties.
My own natural brows are very patchy from years of overplucking, and I was getting sick of filling them in each morning. When you see the state of my natural brows you'll know exactly why I HAVE to fill them in. The solution? Feather stroke tattoo, which I got done recently.

Here's a before/after photo for your viewing pleasure before I get started on the post. Please note this is picture heavy.
This type of tattoo is designed to mimic real hair and look really natural, so you don't get the solid coloured brows that can make you look like Morticia Addams. It's semi-permanent, meaning that it's not going to last forever so there's no risk that I'll be 80 yrs old with grey hair and super dark arched brows. This type of tattoo lasts anywhere up to 5 years, depending on your hair and skin type.

I've had a lot of questions from people about the process, so I thought I'd do a blog post about my experience. Just remember these are my opinions based on my experience, if you are considering getting feather stroke brow tattoos I suggest you find a reputable salon that does it and ask for a consultation so they can give you more in-depth answers.

The tattoo process
This type of tattooing is done over 2 separate appointments, 6 weeks apart. During the first appointment you agree on the shape and get the initial tattoo done. Then after 6 weeks you go back to perfect the shape and touch up any bits that haven't taken the pigment well.

My first appointment took 2 hours. We spent the first hour perfecting the shape to suit my face. My left brow is naturally droopy, which brings down my left eye. Katie, the brow specialist, corrected this by drawing on the brow where it should be, rather than where it naturally hung so low. She managed to make my brows symmetrical, something I hadn't managed to do in my years of doing makeup and brows.

After I was completely happy with the shape and colour, Katie applied numbing cream then got to work applying the pigment using a single-use microblade.

You might be wondering if it hurts. I won't lie, it does, but it's a completely bearable pain. For me it felt like someone was quickly plucking the hairs off my brows. It's way less painful than waxing, just feels scratchy.

Healing & After care
I experienced no downtime after the tattoo, straight after getting them done I just went about my business as per normal. There was a tiny bit of redness around my brows (see pic below) but no one noticed. I had a bit of a headache most of the first day which Katie said is completely normal. It's from all the pressure of stroking the pigment on to my brows. The headache wasn't bad enough to warrant painkillers, it was just a dull ache. For about 2 weeks after I had to apply antiseptic cream on my brows to make sure there were no infections, and also need to be careful not to apply any product to the brow area for those first 2 weeks as well until they heal.

Notice the slight redness in the After picture. This was as bad as it got, i.e. it was not very noticeable.

When first done, the colour is about 30% darker than what you will actually end up with. It takes about 2 weeks for the final colour to come through. During those first 2 weeks the skin on my brows started getting dry and scabby, and dry bits started falling off. At first this freaked me out as I thought that meant the whole colour would be falling off together with the dry skin. Not the case. It was just the darker top layer, what I was left with was the actual colour my brows would take.
Six week touch up
After about 6 weeks my brows got a bit patchy in parts where the pigment hadn't taken well, but it was still 100% better than my natural brows. For my 6 week touch up Katie went over the bits that didn't take the colour as well. The whole thing took about an hour. Healing & after care was exactly the same as after the first time.
Final result
This is what my brows look like now 3 weeks after getting the touch up done. If all goes well, this should last me anywhere from 2-5yrs. I have absolutely no regrets getting them done, I wish I'd done them sooner. It makes getting ready in the mornings that little bit quicker, and for a busy mamma of 2 kids, any time saved is a bonus.
I got mine done at La Belle Parramatta. I am not affiliated with the place, I found them by googling, then stalked their FB and Instagram pages for a few weeks until I was confident that they were the place for me. Their work looked consistently great and Katie, the tattoo artist, was very friendly and knowledgeable. I paid $580 for the two sessions, most places charge roughly the same amount. If you're thinking of getting your brows tattooed in this manner, I suggest you research the place thoroughly to make sure they're reputable, hygenic, and of course their work must also be of a standard you're happy with.

Let me know what you think of my brow transformation. Would you do it?
A little while ago I was sent some goodies from Pixi Beauty. Pixi Beauty isn't that well known in Australia, at least not to me, however their UK store delivers worldwide, and they also stock them at Sephora Australia if you happen to live near one. Today I'm showing you 3 items which really stood out for me.

Natural Contour Powder in Shape & Shadow (£18)
A big yes from me on this one. It looks quite dark in the pan, but once applied it's a really natural cool toned and matte contouring powder. It contains aloe vera, coffee and goji berry. It is quite finely milled and blends very easily without going muddy. I also love that the case comes with its own mirror under the lid in case of touch ups on the go... not that I usually touch up my contour on the go, but I like to know the option is there! So yes, this is definitely a must have!

Correction Concentrate in Brightening Peach (£14)
This is a corrective concealer, the peachy shade masks any dark and blue tinges to the skin so it's great to use under the eye area. My under eyes aren't too bad, but whenever I've used this Peach shade I've felt that my whole face looks brighter. It's not as good if you use it to cover a pimple, the peachy shade looks unnatural, but lets not forget this is not for pimples but simply for correcting darkness to the skin.

Concealing Concentrate in Adaptable Beige (£14)
This is super thick and highly pigmented, so the tiniest amount is needed for concealer dark under eye areas as well as any dreaded spots that need hiding. The colour leans quite yellow which looks natural when blended in. I'm generally not a fan of concealers that come in little pots, I prefer a tube or a wand as they're easier to use, however the quality of this concealer makes me want to put this on the repurchase list.

Here are the unblended swatches on my hand, and how the Concealer (Beige) and the Contour Powder look on my skin.

Hello lovelies.

September was a bit of a tough month for me. I caught tonsillitis, twice. The baby grew out of the newborn stage, which means no longer could I rely on marathon naps lasting 3hrs, and the 3yr old suddenly turned into a threenager and required constant attention. But did this mean I stopped wearing makeup? Hell no. Except maybe on some of the sick at home days. But what it meant is I stuck to boring old, but very trusty, neutral shades to get me through the tough times.

1. Zoeva Rose Golden Eyeshadow Palette - new addition to my makeup family and I love love love it. The colours are pigmented and amazing quality, with no fall out. And best of all, all the shades are wearable and application is a no-brainer, any shade even just quickly applied on the lid will work.

2. LA Girl Matte Pigment Glosses (Colours pictured here are Dreamy & Playful)- these are the kind that you apply like a gloss and they dry to a super matte budge proof finish. These are the best type of lippies to wear when you have young kids as they won't transfer onto them (if you're like me and constantly cuddle and kiss them).

3. Illamasqua Blush in Naked Rose - my trusty favourite, it's a neutral rose pink that is not over the top and gives just the right amount colour to my cheeks. I'm sure you can tell from the pan that this gets a lot of wear!

4. Rimmel 60 Second Nail Polish in Lose Your Lingerie - this soft pink polish hardly left my nails all month. Why? Dries super quickly, laps about a week without chips and goes with absolutely any outfit I wear.

5. Carmex Original Lipbalm - See point number 2. Those super matte lippies are also super drying on the lips. Not to mention the fact being sick also dries out the lips. I've been using the original Carmex for years and years as I find this is the only lip balm that actually moisturises my lips without simply masking the dryness.

What have been your favourites in September?
I was so glad I found this one from L'Oreal called Chantilly Lace, as not only does it not look like liquid paper, it's also fairly long lasting (5 days no chips). And these cute little bottles are such a perfect size, as I tend to use up these polishes before they go clumpy or dry out.
Not surprising, considering the big claims it makes. But does it deliver?

The box it comes in claims that this mascara gives 1,944% more volume! That's a big claim! I wouldn't say I thought my lashes were 1,944% more volumized but it certainly did make them thicker, blacker, and longer. I can't give you a percentage, coz how do you even work that out people?
On the whole I do think this is an amazing mascara, but... and there is a but, it's not for everyone. If you have really short or sparse lashes it can look very clumpy, and I know this because my mum also has this same mascara and on her short lashes it looks very clumpy. The wand is also slightly bigger than average, so it's easy to skip a lash or two and end up with mascara on your lids.

However, if you already have a decent set of lashes to begin with, this can make them look amazing. The colour is very black, it lengthens and volumizes to the max and it's also very buildable. I generally do 2 coats as I like my lashes to stand out, but even 1 coat gives more volume than some other mascaras out there. It also washes off really easily and best of all doesn't leave your lashes feeling crunchy.
Can I just say I also really like the packaging, it feels really sturdy and I know it won't break if I was to drop it.

This mascara is $29 at Mecca Maxima, and is definitely a repurchase for me.

ON LIFE
Firstly, apologies for the long unexplained absence. Actually I'm sure you can guess the main reason for my absence. BABY. Make that BABY + TODDLER! We're still trying to get the hang of going from a family of 3 to a family of 4, and boy that little bundle of baby makes life that little bit more busier. Baby Lola is 12 weeks old now, I know, where's the time gone? While she's generally a pretty chilled baby, sleeping and eating pretty well, trying to balance that with an extremely active 3 year old boy means one tired mamma here. So yes, that's the main reason I've been a bit MIA here, though from time to time you've probably caught me on Instagram (@lilitsblog).

ON BLOGGING
The other reason for the absence is... I'd lost my blogging mojo. I started this blog 5 years ago as a hobby. It was never meant to be my career, or my main source of income. That's what I have a proper paying corporate job for (yes, boring, boring but that's what pays my bills). My blog is purely meant to be an outlet for me to talk makeup with like minded individuals instead of boring my husband to tears over how many nude lipsticks a girl should own. But lately it just seems like everywhere I turn there are articles on how to increase blog traffic, how to monetise your blog, how to sell advertising space. Aaaaghhh. STOP! And this of course made me feel like I should be doing more with my blog too, which in turn started stressing me out because I didn't actually want to turn it into my career but felt like with my high stats I really should, otherwise I'm being taken for a ride. Again, aaaghhhh. STOP! So I've decided if I'm to continue blogging without feeling like it's a massive chore, then I should just blog about what I want to blog about, not feel obligated to any company, not feel like I need to pimp it out on all kinds of social media to increase traffic, and definitely not feel like I'm being taken for a ride because I'm blogging about a PR sample for free (after all, this is a hobby and the fact that I get sent free makeup is a privilege not an entitlement). Oh and stop reading articles titled Top 10 Ways to Make Money From Your Blog.
*Of course there's nothing wrong with wanting to monetise your blog or turn it into your career, I'm purely taking about how it's not right for me.

ON HAULING
So ummm... I've been hauling. Online hauling to be precise. You see in the newborn days there are a lot of sleepless nights, which means nights spent surfing the web at 3am while feeding your baby for the 4th time that night. And surfing the web almost always leads me to online shops so as a result I've ended up with some orders from Luxola (Zoeva Palettes and a brush), Belle Bambi (LA Girl Matte Glosses) and Mecca Maxima (Too Faced Better Than S*x Mascara). I might review them over the next few weeks so keep an eye out for it.

ON BROWS
So I've decided to get me some brows. I've got really scraggly brows from years of over plucking which I constantly fill in every morning. I've decided to save myself 10 mins each morning and get my brows feather stroke tattooed. Now before you freak out and think colour blocked Morticia Adams brows, feather stroke tattoos look more natural as they're drawn to mimic hair. I'm booked in for a consultation later next month, and will be getting the tattoos in early November (the place I chose were booked out until then, surely it's a sign that they're good?!). And of course I will write all about my experience here on the blog... unless they turn out horrible, in which case I'll go into hiding for 3 years until they fade. And in case you want to see what feather stroke tattoos look like, here's a before/after pic from Lana Tarek Brows. They're not the ones I'm going to for my brows as they were too far for me to travel, but the place I chose had excellent portfolio of their work as well.
Well, that's it from me for now and thanks for hanging in there! I know this was a mega post but I felt like I had to provide this update before normal blogging resumes.
Blame it on Instagram. First it was the DB Cosmetics Contour Kit (which I blogged about HERE), then Zoeva Cosmetics eyeshadow palettes kept popping up on my feed. And the icing on the cake was the L.A. Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Glosses which had me reaching for my wallet. I've been extremely happy with my purchases, and have been reaching for them almost daily. And lo and behold, here's a look I came up with.

And yes, I know contouring is no longer cool - it's all about strobing now (and seriously, can we just call it highlighting already?), but this was one contour palette I couldn't pass on and not just because it was less than $10!.

I first spotted the DB Cosmetics Contour Kit ($9.95!) on my Instagram feed. It wasn't available in stores yet, but you could do a pre-order online and of course I did just that. When it arrived, my only regret was not ordering 2 of them as I think these will sell out quickly.

In the kit you get one matte pale yellow highlighter, one mid-toned contour shade, and one shimmer highlighter. The contour shade especially is really good as it won't pull muddy on you, though I'd say for anyone darker than me (NC25), this might not be dark enough for you.
Here are some swatches. I do realise the shimmer highlight shade doesn't show up a lot in my swatches, but that's because it's very close to my skintone hence it kind of disappears into it.
One of the questions I get asked quite a lot is how does this compare to the Australis Contour/Highlight palette. I would say quality wise they're both the same. The real difference is in size and number of pans you get. Obviously in the Australis kit you get 6 pans (3 highlight and 3 contour shades), whereas in the DB kit you get 3, and also the Australis contour shades are all darker than the DB ones. But as you can see from my palette below, I only really use the yellow highlighter from the Australis one, and a bit of the centre contour shade as the rest are too muddy for me. So for me personally I prefer the DB kit, but it's purely because their colours suit me better.
But when I was offered a PR sample of this Bobbi Brown palette I couldn't say no, because you know, neutral.

This palette is from the Bobbi Brown limited edition Telluride collection. Telluride happens to be Bobbi Brown's favourite holiday destination which also inspired this range.

The palette comes with 7 neutral shades. I don't know about you, but sometimes I get overwhelmed by the amount of shades in my Naked palettes and so I stick to only a few trusted colours. This palette however has just the right amount to give you a daytime or a nighttime neutral look.

The colours are:
Cream - matte cream, highly pigmented
Woodrose - matte light beige, cool toned. Perfect transition colour and highly pigmented
Velvet Plum Metallic - metallic brown with plum undertones, highly pigmented
Blazing Star Sparkle - white gold sparkle, not much pigmentation and huge fallout
Heather Rose Shimmer Wash - rosy brown, medium pigmentation
Antique Rose - matte light beige, warm toned. Perfect transition colour and highly pigmented. (Note: in the swatch below you can't see the pigmentation that well as it blends into my skintone).
Smokey Brown - matte dark brown, very high pigmentation when applied with small brush. Great to use instead of eyeliner.

Here are a couple of looks I've done with this palette. In the first one I've used Cream on the lid, Velvet Plum in the crease and Smokey Brown on the outer V and lash line. In the second look I've used Velvet Plum on the lid (used wet), and blended it out with Antique Rose.

On the whole this is an excellent palette, with its only let down being the sparkly white shade. If in its place we'd gotten a nicely pigmented shimmery white (e.g. for inner corner highlight), this would have been an absolutely perfect palette.

What do you think of this palette? Yay or nay? Are you guys over neutral palettes yet or still love them?
After a pretty difficult and tiring pregnancy, labour was relatively easy this time around. It all happened very quickly and my husband nearly missed the birth as he'd gone to get some lunch thinking we still had a few hours ahead of us till it was time to push. Both baby & I were doing fine straight away, so we were able to get discharged early from hospital after 2 days (usually it's a 5 day stay). I know a lot of people say "stay for as long as you can to get rest", but seriously, who can get rest when you have people barging in on you every 5 minutes, e.g. nurses, cleaners, breakfast crew and ladies whose sole job seemed to be to water my flowers!

I remember the first few months after having my son, Luca, we were in a confused and sleepless fog. Your life changes so much after having a baby, you just have no idea until it happens. But this 2nd time around we're finding things relatively easy and I don't know if it's because we've all of a sudden turned into parenting ninjas, or if it's because Lola is a calm and content baby. Maybe a bit of both. She still gets up twice a night for a feed, but that's completely expected at this age.

One of my biggest worries had always been how would Luca, who is very very attached to me, take to having another little person share his limelight. But I'm pleased to say he loves his little sister. He always wants to cuddle and kiss her, and so far we haven't seen any displays of jealousy.
So far the hardest thing about having 2 kids is trying to balance meeting the needs of both kids at once. My husband is on leave from work for a month so it's easy now, but when he goes back to work that's when things could get challenging. We'll just have to wait and see how things turn out. I might be back here soon saying "remember that parenting ninja comment? yeah, we ain't no ninjas!".

Well, things might be a bit quiet around here as I try to get into a new sort of a routine as a mum of two (aaaghhhh, still hasn't hit me!). But thanks so much for your continued support, and feel free to stalk me on Instagram (@lilitsblog) where I'm more active.
Follow this blog with Bloglovin ||

a. I have an almost 3yr old son that still comes into our bed at night.
b. I'm currently 9.5 months pregnant (aaaghhhhh!!!!)

Those two things combined mean that I have been sleeping pretty badly lately! The 3yr old snuggles to me so tightly (burrows into me more like it), that if I'm not careful I'll fall off the edge of the bed. And the pregnancy bit means I get up a thousand times a night for bathroom breaks. So to say that a good night's sleep hasn't been happening for me lately is an understatement. And it showed. On my skin, under my eyes and just all over.

I was this close to going to the shops and buying my favourite Maybelline concealer which helped me fake good sleep after I'd just had baby #1. But then after rummaging through my stash I came across these 2 products I was sent a while back from Physician's Formula and thought I'd give them a go. And what do you know, they're great!
Physicians Formula Nude Wear Concealer in "Nude Glow"
This is a concealer and highlighter in one that comes in a wind up wand with a brush at the end. The formula is quite creamy but feels quite lightweight on the skin. It's enough to cover under eye circles and fine lines, and looks quite natural on. The colour is quite yellow based, so it really counteracts any sallowness and brightens the underage area. I apply it with the brush under my eyes and on my lids, then blend it with my ring finger.
Physicians Formula Youthful Wear Youth Boosting Spotless Powder in "Translucent"
Have you noticed how long the names of Physicians Formula products are? Phew! They're a mouthful! This claims to make you look up to 10 years younger! I don't know about that claim, but I do like the luminescent glow it seems to give to my skin. It instantly brightens the skin and evens tone. It's also meant to over time erase dark spots, but I've only been using this for a week so I can't tell you how effective it is at fixing my skin. This comes with a flat powder brush (hidden under the pan), but I don't have anything good to say about the brush. It's very stiff and instead of dispensing a dusting of this lovely powder it scratches my skin. Plus the shape of it looks more suited as a contour brush than an all over powder brush. This is best used with a nice fluffy brush (I use the mineral powder brush from Nude by Nature).

Here is how they look unblended on my skin. If you look carefully, you should be able to see slight shimmery particles in both the powder and the concealer. When applied to the face, the shimmer doesn't come through at all. Instead what you get is a lovely lit from within glow.

You can get Physicians Formula products from Priceline. The powder is approx $29.95 and the concealer is approx $24.95 though they do regularly go on sale so if you're interested definitely keep an eye out for them in store.
I was recently sent one of their lipsticks to try out, and oh my, it's delish!

The Creme Smooth Lip Colour in Dry Rose is hydrating, it's creamy, it's pigmented and it's long lasting. Everything you'd want from a lipstick wrapped in an elegant case. One swipe is enough for full opaque coverage, and you don't even need a lipliner with it as due to the pigmentation it's easy enough to get a nice sharp outline to your lips.
The colour I have is Dry Rose, which is a dusky, muted rose shade that's just perfect for Autumn. It's not normally the type of colour I go for, but I have been wearing it a lot lately.

Aagghhhh.... I'm now just a little over 36 weeks pregnant! That's 9 months to those of you not in the know when it comes to pregnancy countdowns. When I was pregnant the first time around I did fairly regular belly updates, but this 2nd time the last time I did one was at 29 weeks! The major reason for that is that almost all my spare time is spent with my son who at 3yrs old still demands a lot of attention. And by the time he goes to sleep at night I'm too tired to do anything productive.

I'm still working full-time, but this is my last week at work then I'm off for 12 months. Working full-time this late into my pregnancy was probably not such a great idea, but I'd rather have that extra time off to spend with the baby than take leave early and sit around at home waiting for her to arrive. Oh and in case you haven't read any of my previous updates, it's a girl! Yes, we'll have a pigeon pair. Why do they even call it that, a boy/girl sibling?

Besides being constantly exhausted, aching all over (yes, back pain and rib pain made a visit to me early on at around 16 weeks and have stuck around), I'm also feeling a lot like a whale and miss my previous flexibility and fitness levels (don't get me wrong, I was never that fit to begin with, but I could at least walk further than 10m without huffing and puffing and needing to stop to take a rest!). One of the hardest things has been not having the energy or the flexibility to play with my son.

So far I've put on a total of 17kgs, and really I don't even want to think about it. I eat relatively healthy but the weight has piled on. I put on pretty much the same amount during my first pregnancy and lost most of it fairly easily so I'll worry about it later.

Enough about me, the baby - she's doing great! Touch wood everything is developing perfectly with her. She's a chunky little one, already weighing in at 3.5kgs (her brother was also a chunky one, what can I say I make big babies!) And apparently she has a lot of hair already, so I'm keen to see what she'll look like. My son has my eyes, but his daddy's fair curly hair. I do wonder if this baby will just look like a girlier version of my son or look completely different. Only time will tell.

Thanks for reading! And thanks for your continued support of my blog. xx
Now it would have to be eyebrow pencil. Why? Because nicely done brows will really frame the face, giving it definition, making eyes look bigger and even slim down the cheeks. And well, because I have really yucky and patchy brows from years of over plucking, so a good brow product is absolutely essential for me.

Here is what I have on rotation. All of them purchased with my own hard earned cash, and repurchased over and over and over again.

The classic pencil
For years and years this is all I used, it's the Rimmel eyebrow pencil in black/brown. I'm sure you can tell this has been getting a lot of use based on its current size. The formula is quite hard, but that's what I love in a brow pencil - anything creamy and you risk smudging it everywhere. Plus the hardness makes it easier to control your lines. It also has a mini brush at the end of the lid, so it's handy to brush pesky brow hairs into place. It's costs less than $10 but I usually stock up on them when Priceline or Chemist Warehouse are having a sale.

The automatic pencil
I bought this on a whim when I was buying the ABH Dipbrow Pomade, and I have not regretted it. It's the famed Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Medium Brown. If you hate sharpening pencils, then this automatic one is perfect as it's a wind up one. The pencil itself is really skinny, so it's very easy to do fine lines with. And I love that it has a spooley on one end. The only downside? Price. The first time I bought it direct from the ABH website (US$18) and the postage just killed me (US$18.95), but since the Aussie dollar is so low at the moment, I bit the bullet this time around and bought it from Hairhouse Warehouse for $38.

The pomade
The famous Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Dark Brown - yep, it's totally worth the hype. As you can tell, this is getting a lot of love from me. It's a creamy gel formula that stays put all day long. Application does take some getting used to, you need a steady hand and a good brush! But once you get the hang of it, you won't want to use anything else. Its downside? Just like the auto-pencil, it would have to be price. You can get direct from ABH but the low Aussie dollar and high postage will mean you're not getting a bargain. I did however see them sold at Hairhouse Warehouse, and I think they were $39.

The powder
This one is actually an eyeshadow, it's #363 by Inglot, but the ashy/brown colour is perfect for my brows. I don't use it all the time, I mainly use it with the Rimmel pencil - after defining my brows with the pencil I fill in any gaps with this powder. HERE is a tutorial where you can see how I use the 2 together.

As you can see they all get a lot of love from me!

The tools
To pluck my stray brow hairs I use a the Manicure slant tweezers. They're a cheapie, but they do the job well! When it comes to brushes, I mainly use the ABH Duo Brush #12 as it's lovely and small so makes it easy to control my lines. And...ahem... if that brush is dirty then I use the Eco Tools Angled liner brush which is slightly bigger than the ABH ones, which means I end up with bigger brows that day! The other brush I use is actually meant to be for lips! It's the Royal Langnickel lip brush in GL12 which I use to apply powder shadow to my brows.
What are some of your favourite brow products? And while we're talking brows, have you ever had temporary brow tattoo done? I'm very tempted as I think it'll save time in the mornings, but not sure I'm game enough to try them yet.
I blame the fact that at 8.5 months pregnant my energy levels are at an all time low. But I did manage to take a quick peek inside the goody bag and this eyeliner trio caught my eye, so I thought a review is in order!
What is it?
The Physicians Formula Sexy Booster Ooh La La Sexy Eyes Trio (phew, mouthful!) is a trio of eyeliners designed to help you create a variety of eye looks. They're also hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested and safe for sensitive eyes. The eyeliners come in a little carry case. You get:

A felt tip liquid eyeliner to help you create a cat-eye flick

A kohl kajal eyeliner for dark and dramatic looks, works also perfectly on inner rims

An automatic eyeliner pencil for every day looks

Thoughts

Ok, first things first... is that vanilla I smell? Ummm... the eyeliners seem to all smell of vanilla! Which I thought is a bit strange, but pleasant. In fact I quite like it, but be warned, if you hate vanilla then give these a miss as the smell seems to linger.

While I love the packaging of the felt tip eyeliner (the shorter handle makes it very easy to control), the formula is quite watery and doesn't give a strong enough line for a sharp cat eye. You can see what I mean in the swatches below.

The kohl kajal is perfect. It's dark, smooth and glides on like a dream. It gives a very dramatic line and is good for sultry looks. The only thing to be weary of is it take about a minute or so to dry to a smudge-free finish, so don't rub your eyes while it's drying!

The automatic eyeliner pencil is ok, nothing overly special but good for every day looks.

The eyeliners could work well layered together, e.g. layering the kajal over the felt tip liquid liner gives a much bolder and sharper line.

Let's have a look at the liners up close, and swatched.
Yeah, close enough!Excuse the somewhat long and unexplained absence. We had no internet for a couple of weeks, then we went on a mini getaway to the Blue Mountains and before I knew it it was 3 weeks since my last post! Oops.

In other news, I'd been meaning to do a comparison post of the Lime Crime Velveteen in Utopia with the Savvy Ultra Matte lip colour in Icon, as I had a sneaking suspicion they might be dupes. So here it is.

Swatched side by side they're close, but not perfect. Icon is definitely more purple based whereas Utopia is warmer. However worn on the lips, and given enough time to dry on the lips, they're actually pretty darn close! In the lip swatch below I'm wearing Icon on the bottom lip with Utopia on top. I'm sure if you look closely enough you can tell the difference in shades, but to just a passing observer the difference is negligent.

Besides the colour dupe-ness (is that even a word), I thought I'd compare a few other things as well.

Application
Both come with a sponge tip applicator, apply wet then within 60 seconds dry to a super-matte finish. Both are also incredibly matte and budge proof.

Texture
Lime Crime Utopia wins hands down. It feels very lightweight on the lips, you can't even tell you're wearing anything despite the matte finish. Savvy Icon however feels heavy, and also feels a lot more drying on the lips.

Longevity
It's a tie again, both are budge proof and will stay on your lips until you're ready to take them off. In fact even when ready to take them off, you'll probably have trouble as they both adhere to your lips like glue! An oil based makeup remover (or cotton pad dabbed with olive oil) are the only things I found worked well to remove these from my lips without scrubbing.

Price
Utopia is somewhere between $20-26 depending where you buy it from. There are a few online retailers for it (Lulu and Lipstick, Discount Beauty Boutique, etc... just google Lime Crime Australia and you should get some other stores), though I got mine from IMATS late last year. Icon is around $7 and you can get it from Priceline.

On the whole I'd say the colours are very close when worn on the lips, but in terms of comfort and application the Lime Crime one wins the prize for me. However, if you can't track it down or don't want to spend $26 for it, then go for the Savvy one and put the savings towards...ummm... more makeup?

Have you tried either of these brands? What do you think of the comparison?
Follow this blog with Bloglovin ||

In the photo above the lipliner and lippy don't really match, but in real life you can't tell the difference as much. It ended up being a good lip combo, as I wore it 3 more times last week and that's saying something considering I like to change up my lippy every day.
Do you like digging into your makeup stash? It was definitely a nice "pastime" I used to have back in the days when I didn't have a toddler who demanded my attention 100% of the time, but even now whenever I get the chance I like to see what hidden gems I've been neglecting lately.
Follow this blog with Bloglovin ||

Blog research, you know. I definitely did not have a shopping list, and I sure as hell had no intention of ever getting the UD Naked 3 palette. But you know what, I got it, and it's awesome! I always assumed that the rose-gold tones in Naked 3 would not work with my complexion, that they might make my eyes look bloodshot or tired but in fact they're very versatile colours and surprisingly work well even with my dark features.

Besides the UD Naked 3 I also picked up another Bare Minerals lipstick, this time in the colour Fly High. I've become quite a fan of these lippies as they're super creamy, moisturising and surprisingly long lasting. Plus they're reasonably priced ($26) for the quality you get.

Here's a simple look that I did today wearing both new products.
In other news, I'm now 29 weeks pregnant. That means officially there are 11 weeks left till our little daughter is born. But of course it could be earlier than that, and I can't wait! I'm especially curious to see how Luca, who will be almost 3 when she's born, will handle his new role as a big brother. He now knows that there's a little "sista" in mummy's tummy, and that "sista" is going to bring him a gift of either a racing car or a firetruck (he keeps changing his mind). But apart from that I don't know if he'll be jealous or handle the new addition well.

I must admit I'm finding pregnancy a lot harder this time around. If I thought being pregnant the 1st time around was tiring, well being pregnant while looking after a toddler and still working is exhausting times a million. I've also already put on 11kilos! Aaaghhh... But I'd put on 17kilos with Luca and lost almost all, so 11kgs with only 2 months to go isn't too bad.

Besides the exhaustion, I'm also almost always in a lot of pain. I have dislocated ribs due to everything in my insides shifting to make room for the baby, and I also have a lot of pelvic and lower back pain (yep, I'm starting to waddle now when I walk!). The ribs hurt if I sit down for longer than 30 mins at a time, and the pelvic and back pain come when I've been standing or walking for too long. Usually I'm fine during the first half of the day, but by early afternoon all the pain and exhaustion catches up with me. But there's only 2 months to go and yes, I know a different set of exhaustion will settle in but at least the rib and back pain will go away. I had the same pains the first time too, and immediately after giving birth they were gone... either that, or I just don't remember it because I was too preoccupied with the baby.

Well, this ended up being a pretty long post from me! I hardly get the time (or energy) to blog lately, hence now that I've had a bit of time I feel like I let it all out. And if you're still reading, wow, thanks for sticking around!
Well, here's an idea of how you can show off your pretty eyeshadows - in The Makeup Framer!

The Makeup Framer is created by a fellow beauty lover, Emily, as a way of not only showing off your makeup, but also to store your pan eyeshadows and blushes in the one easy to see spot. Practical and pretty!

The palette itself is a beautiful white frame with a magnetised base that you can stick your pan eyeshadows to. If the eyeshadow pan is metallic or magnetised then you'll have no problems sticking them to the palette, however if it's not metallic (e.g. the MAC shadows won't stick), it's still no big deal as the Framer comes with 10 free magnetic stickers that you can stick to the back of the pans then store them in the palette.

The only thing you need to be weary of is that if your eyeshadows have a habit of kicking up a dust storm, then the white frame can get dirty so be prepared to wipe.

If you're an expert at de-potting makeup, then great! If not, there are plenty of youtube videos that show you how easy it is to de-pot. There is even one on the Makeup Framer website itself that you can check out.

For this month the Star of the Month has to be the Australis Contouring & Highlighting Kit, and I'm sure you can tell by the ratty condition of the palette how much use it's been getting from me lately. The middle highlight shade is fabulous at brightening my under eye area, and the middle contour shade is the perfect colour for me to fake cheekbones with. And let's face it, with this pregnancy I've put on 10kgs already so I need all the help I can get to fake cheekbones!

When they first released this palette it sold out so quickly from Priceline, but they're back in stock now, and well worth the $16.95 price tag.
I was sent a lovely press pack from them of some of their new releases, and the following lip products caught my eye. And yes, you could say that I'm going through a Nude lip phase right now, lucky, because the Essence April releases are all about the Nudes.

Can we just take a moment to admire the beautiful bullet of these lippies? Don't they look luxe? Far more decadent than their $4.70 price tag! Yes, less than $5 each.
The colours I have, left to right, are:

Lipstick in Nude #01 Wearing Only A Smile - This is a fairly sheer milky nude. It's far too light for my colouring and I really cannot get away with wearing it. Maybe someone with a fairer complexion can get better use of it.
Lipstick in Nude #03 Come Naturally - Love this mauve/nude shade. It's a cool toned nude which looks almost purple under different lights, but it's an amazing shade that I'll get a lot of wear out of.
XXXL Lipgloss in #01 Shy Beauty - Very sheer, light milky beige. Could be a dupe for NARS Turkish Delight.
XXXL Lipgloss in #03 Taste The Sweets - Sheer medium nude, looks great worn over lipstick to add some dimension.

My thoughts on the lipsticks
They are incredibly lightweight, feel almost like I have nothing on my lips. They glided on nicely, though the lighter colour did accentuate the dryness of my lips but I think it had more to do with the colour than the quality. I love the packaging and the bullet with the "e" logo on it just screams luxury to me. As they're so light weight, they also did not last long on my lips. Maybe 2 hours. Personally I prefer a matte lip that I can get to last a whole day on me, so these aren't something I'd reach for all the time but I have been wearing the darker shade quite a lot on weekends when I don't want to feel like I've got a tonne of makeup on.

My thoughts on the lip glosses
I'm not really a gloss wearer, and I wouldn't say these converted me to a gloss chick. Worn alone they only seemed to add shine to my lips, but they did look great layered over lipsticks for that added dimension. Also, I was pleasantly surprised at how non-sticky they were, and best of all they did not bleed past my lip lines. So if you are a lip gloss wearer, do check them out as at $4.10 that's the price of a latte in Sydney!

And here are a few lip swatches.
I would read blog reviews where the blogger would write about the lack of longevity of a foundation, and I'd be left wondering "what are you talking about, I have that same foundation and it lasts a whole day on me!".

Then I realised, of course! It's because they're probably not setting it with powder! A little bit of digging around and asking my (blogger and non-blogger) friends confirmed my suspicions, that not everybody uses a face powder every single time to set their foundation.

As for me, ever since I started wearing foundation (and that's a long time!), I have always, always, set my makeup with some kind of powder afterwards. I have fairly dry skin so it's not as if my makeup will slide off my skin, but I just prefer the smooth finish that a powder gives, not to mention the longevity.

Here are the ones I've got currently in rotation, clockwise from left:

Sabaya powder foundation #05 - This is a UAE brand which I picked up from Dubai a couple of years ago. It's actually quite heavy (it's meant to be worn without a foundation), so I only use it on special occasions or when my skin is looking particularly cr*p and I want to hide all blemishes.

L'Oreal BB Powder in Light - this is really nice and lightweight, I don't take any notice of the BB claims on it, but it sets my makeup beautifully. The colour is too light for me at the moment so I'm saving it for winter.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium - As you can tell from the pan I use this a lot. In fact I have about 6 empty cases of these in my draw waiting to be Back 2 MAC -ed. It really doesn't look or feel like I have any powder on my skin, as the finish is really natural. But it does help prolong the longevity of my foundation.

Maybelline 24hr Super Stay powder in Sand - This is probably my HG powder. I'm never without one and use it almost every day. Forget the 24hr claim, but this definitely does make my foundation last all day.

Do you powder your face each time you use a foundation? Any favourite finishing powders?

Lucky, as I next came across them at Big W where they were 30% off. Score! It was like I was meant to have them!

The L'Oreal L'Ombre Pure Eyeshadows are a fairly new release in Australia, and they have the most amazing pigmentation. They're very soft and almost gel like to the touch, but they apply and stay on like powder eyeshadows. If you've tried their Infallible range, they're very similar in texture but not as crumbly.

The colours that appealed to me most were #201 (Nude) Cafe Saint Germain and #502 (Lumiere) Quartz Fume. They are very typical me colours, and I'm sure I have lots of dupes for these but it was the finish that I couldn't go past. The two I picked are both metallic, but they also come in matte finishes as well.

#201 Cafe Saint Germain is a light taupe with almost pinkish undertones. It swatches much lighter than it looks in the pan. #502 Quartz Fume is a stunning dark shimmery taupe. It swatches much darker than it looks in the pan.

Both look amazing worn alone on the lid, or even with #201 on the lid and #502 in the crease.
Here's a lazy way I've been wearing it the past week or so, with the darker shade all over the lid/crease and lower lash line and the lighter shade in the inner corners.
If you're after some highly pigmented single shadows, then definitely give these a swatch next time you're at a L'Oreal stockist, I guarantee you'll love the quality.
No, me neither. It seems like only yesterday that I made the announcement about my pregnancy (it was actually 11 weeks ago!). I had visions of me doing a fortnightly update on how everything is going but as you can see I didn't. I'm sure you noticed that my blogging has been a bit sporadic lately too. Being pregnant while looking after a toddler and working almost full-time (4 days a week) means that by the end of the day I'm beat, but here I am finally with a belly update.

The biggest news to share is the gender of the baby... it's a

GIRL!!!!

My little boy is very much a boyish boy, which means our house is overrun with trucks, cars and dinosaurs, so I'm looking forward to having some pink around the house too. How funny would it be if she's a tomboy and prefers dinosaurs to dolls? Oh well, at least we won't have to spend more money on toys.

Apart from the constant exhaustion everything else is going relatively smoothly, touch wood! During my first pregnancy the baby had kicked my ribs out of alignment, and this time around I've started feeling the same rib pain fairly early on. Also other aches and pains that I'd experienced much later during the first pregnancy have started earlier this time around, but on the whole things are still bearable.

I've also gained more weight this 2nd time around, and started showing a lot earlier too. I've gained a total of 9kgs so far, aaaghhh. During my first pregnancy I'd gained around 7kgs by 24weeks. I have heard that you retain more fluid when carrying a girl (something about the double dose of the female hormones), but it could also be all the extra sweets and cakes I've been consuming lately. Oops.

We've slowly started introducing Luca to the idea of being a big brother, but I don't think he's caught on yet. We've bought a few books for him on the subject, and he loves when we read it to him but I don't think he gets it that in a few months there'll be a baby sister in the house, and she ain't going anywhere. Luca will be almost 3 by the time the baby arrives, and hopefully he'll adjust to having a sibling quickly. If you have any tips on how to get a toddler used to a new baby, let me know!
