Lipstick Tales: MAC Lipstick in Plum Dandy

If you've been following my blog for any length of time, then you'll know when it comes to lipsticks I tend to go for bright pinks, corals, oranges and purples. The colour I have here is not something that I would normally go for, it's just too... what's the word I'm looking for? Dull? Not really bright? Not out there? Yet when I saw it at my local MAC counter the other day I was really attracted to it and had to give it a try!

MAC Plum Dandy is a frost finish lipstick. The MAC Frosts aren't really my favourite formula as I find they're not pigmented enough and don't last as long as the Amplifieds and Creamsheens. This one however is quite pigmented, though longevity still leaves a lot to be desired. I'm lucky to get 3hrs out of it, but it's ok, the colour's pretty enough for me to forgive it.

Speaking of colour, in the tube it looks almost brown but on lips it's definitely a plum but with almost a duo chrome finish on the lips. It's the frost that gives it a nice 2 dimensional effect which in turn kind of ends up making my lips look bigger than they are. Win.

So far I'm really liking this colour, and I can see it working well for both fair skins and those with a bit of a tan. Overall I don't think this will end up being in my all time favourites list, but it's a nice change to my usual shades.

Have you tried this colour? What do you think of shimmery frosty shades like these?
