Lipstick Tales: the Ultimate MLBB shade!

For those not in the know, MLBB stands for My Lips But Better. And until recently I did not see the point in an MLBB shade of lipstick. Oh puhleeze, the whole point of a lipstick is to change the colour of my lips, not make it look like I don't have lippy on. That is, until I discovered the Bareminerals lipstick in Speak Your Mind.
I bought this lippy on a whim one day when I was just browsing at my local Meccamaxima store. I tend to ignore the Bareminerals counter, for some reason (maybe the packaging? kinda boring really) it just doesn't appeal to me plus I always imagined it to be very expensive and overpriced. But one day their lipsticks caught my eye and I thought I'd swatch one... and the rest is history. Oh and it's not expensive or overpriced. At $24 for the lipstick I'd say it's very reasonably priced.

Onto Speak Your Mind. It's very creamy, ultra pigmented and lasts for about 4-6hrs on me. After about 2 hours the creaminess disappears and what I'm left with is a semi-matte colour that really does look like my lips but better.

So if you haven't tried Bareminerals lipsticks I highly recommend the lipsticks, especially this colour if you're after a soft nudey/pink.

Do you like MLBB shades? Any favourites?

  1. I tend to bypass Bare Minerals too, but I must say they're priced very reasonably (cheaper than some Revlon lippies!!)! This shade is so pretty, it seems like the perfect balance of pink, peach and mauve. While it wouldn't be a perfect MLBB for me, it's still such a lovely, wearable shade!

    1. I was very surprised at how reasonably priced they were! I seriously expected maybe $40+ for the lippy so yep, to find that they're less than the Revlon lippies was a nice surprise :)

  2. I love a, 'my lips but better' kinda lippie. Recently I've been opting for more and more shades like this. Love how easy and wearable they are. I have to say, I don't own anything from Bare Minerals but this looks great on you! xxx

    1. I think they need to change the packaging to make it more attractive! We're like magpies, attracted to shiny things and the current BM packaging is a bit boring, LOL.

I love Never Say Never and Risk It All, both are very creamy and opaque, love them!

  6. I can totally agree with you on BM, what a coincidence as i as only saying the same thing to a friend the other day! I have by-passed the brand for years as i'm not really into mineral makeup & didn't think anything they had to offer would appeal to me.
After seeing a random review on their eye shadows, How wrong i was! I'm in love with their silky, creamy e/s duos and quints... if you haven't tried them you should, plus the mineral veil is an essential for anyone with oily/combo skin. Will check out their lipstick next time i'm in Mecca, thanks :)
PS: They also release limited edition highlight powders that are to die for
