Girlee Cosmetics Haul and Review

I first discovered Girlee Cosmetics back at the International Makeup Artist Trade Show (IMATS) in Sydney back in 2012. I'd bought their Velvet Primer and Creme Foundation and completely fallen in love with both, but the problem was I didn't know where to buy them when they ran out, because their website at the time only sold to wholesale customers. Well my dears, I'm happy to say they now have an online store for regular retail customers, which you can access via HERE. I was also lucky to be sent some press samples from the range as well, so here is my review of the collective of goodies. Note that those marked with * are samples.

Velvet Veil Primer -  I'm all about minimising and simplifying my makeup routine. And for that reason I've always shunned primers as they seem an unnecessary step. Most primers felt just like a moisturiser on my skin so why bother with them? Well, the Velvet Primer is completely different from most other primers I've tried. For one thing it's a clear thick gel, and when you apply it you get this beautiful velvety finish to your skin. Not only does it make my foundation glide on my skin when I'm applying it, it also makes it last the whole day or until I'm ready to remove it. This was the product I was most looking forward to repurchasing and I'm glad I found it! $38.95

Advanced Long Wear Concealer* - It's a thick liquid concealer with high pigmentation that covers all dark under eye circles. Best of all it doesn't go cakey or settle into fine lines. A tiny little bit is all that's needed to provide smooth cover over blemishes or dark circles.

Creme Compact Foundation - This is another repurchase for me that I first tried a few years back. It gives a light to medium, but buildable coverage for me that lasts all day and is non cake. Also because it comes in a compact form it's handy to through in my bag for touch ups. I normally use my Sigma 180 brush to apply this, and leave the sponge that comes with it for touch ups on the go. $39.95

Lip Creme in Dragonfruit* - Ahh, such a me colour. It's a vibrant warm pink that glides smoothly on the lips. It has a beautiful sweet scent with maybe a minty base? I can't quite put my finger on the scent, reminds me of a bubblegum I used to chew as a child. Love it.

Lip Exfoliating Micro Polish* - If you have dry chapped lips, you use this to buff away the dry skin. Basically apply to the lips and massage in circular motion to get rid of dead skin. I've only used this once and to be quiet honest I probably won't use it often, as I mentioned above I'm all about minimising and simplifying my makeup routine and this is an extra step that this time poor mama doesn't have time for.

Now back to Girlee Cosmetics. Where can you buy them? You can get them online at girleecosmetics.com - just click on Retail Customers. The products marked with * are not yet available on the retail website, but... you can probably buy them in person if you're going to the Hair Expo in Sydney this weekend! Yep, Girlee Cosmetics at the Sydney Exhibition Centre so if you're planning a visit to the Expo make sure you pop over and check out the brand. You won't be disappointed!

Have you heard of or tried Girlee Cosmetics before?

  1. A great post :) It's lovely to hear of a new cosmetic line I've never heard of! What would you say they are comparable to?

    1. Thanks Ellen, I haven't tried too many other things from the range but I'd say they're on par with L'Oreal/Revlon.
