Laura Mercier Luxe Colour Wardrobe - my early Christmas present

When the husband asked me what I wanted for Christmas I didn't hesitate in saying I wanted the Laura Mercier Luxe Colour Wardobe. I'm a s*cker for a good palette, and this one looked perfect! Unfortunately it was initially sold out but luckily they got more stock in so the husband snapped it up for me from David Jones. Yay. And because he knows I couldn't wait until Christmas, he let me have it now. Thank you honey!

So is it as perfect a palette as I thought it was? Oooh you bet it is! I am absolutely IN. LOVE. WITH. IT. It's a dual decker palette that contains 8 eyeshadows, 2 blushes, 1 bronzer/shimmer powder, 3 cake eyeliners, 1 pencil eyeliner and 3 brushes which are actually useable. Plus it comes in an elegant brown case. So lush.

The top deck contains a matte and shimmery mix of 8 eyeshadows, which are all highly pigmented with no fall out. My favourite colour is African Violet which looks great worn both in the crease and as an all over lid colour.

The bottom layer contains the bronzer/shimmer powder, 2 blushes and 3 cake eyeliners. The cake eyeliners need a wet brush in order to work well, but I have worn them in my waterline and they've stayed put. There is also a brown pencil eyeliner as well, but I am yet to use it.

And here are the brushes which are included in the pack. They are surprisingly good quality!

Overall I can see this palette gain HG status in no time at all, and yes, I would say this is as good as my favourite Lorac Pro Palette but even more so because the addition of eyeliners and blushes make this a perfect travel palette.

This palette is from the holiday 2013 collection and cost $98 AUD at David Jones. It is limited edition, so if you want it then you'd better hurry.

What do you think of this palette? Do you love palettes too or do you prefer to build your collection with single products?

  1. It looks lovely. As you were describing it I was thinking 'would be great for when you only have carry on luggage' and need to travel light.
I'm only starting to learn how to use makeup. Do you think these colours would suit a cool skin tone? (From what I can tell from reading about skin tones online, I am cool)

    1. I think the colours would be perfect for cooler skintones as you have a lot of neutral/cool shades in there. In fact even the browny shades are on the cooler sides. :)
