France beauty haul

I mentioned in my last post that holidaying with a toddler is quite challenging. That also includes shopping with a toddler, especially clothes shopping where I need to try things on. While I could happily browse the shops for hours, Luca gets bored very quickly and starts squirming in his stroller wanting to be picked up. So while in France I tended to concentrate my shopping on beauty products only as I can do that relatively quickly, even whilst holding a wriggly 15 month old in my arms.

Here are the things I bought in France.

French Pharmacy buys
French pharmacies are a treasure trove for the skincare lover, but to be quite honest I'm not that much of a skincare fanatic. I tend to find something I like and stick with them for years. Never the less, I did buy a couple of things from a pharmacy in Paris.

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse - Ah yes, the miracle multi-purpose dry oil for hair, face and skin. While this is available in Australia, it was much, much cheaper in France so I thought I'd give it a try. I love the smell of it, though I can see some people might not like it as it's strong. I've used it on my hair only and love the shine it gives.
Le Petit Olivier a l'Huile d'Argan Day & Night cream - I'm a sucker for anything with Argan Oil in it, and since this one contains said oil I couldn't resist. I've used this a handful of times and it's not bad, though not HG material. Lets put it this way, if it runs out, I won't be rushing out to replace it but in saying that I will most likely use it all up as it does a decent job of moisturising my skin.

Department store & Sephora buys
These are from Sephora, Galleries LaFayette and Monoprix. I was a bit disappointed in Sephora France, as they stocked limited brands. There was no Lorac, no Kath Von D or Hourglass, so I ended up just getting two things from the Sephora collection.

Sinful Colours mini nail polish in Be Happy - no, I did not need another mint coloured nail polish but I'm addicted, what can I say?
Arcancil blush in Baby Corail - this looks great with a tan, it has just the right amount of shimmer in it to make my cheeks look glowy without lighting me up like a disco ball.
Arcancil Mattitude foundation in #20 - this is like Revlon Colorstay foundation minus the drying factor. I wished I'd bought more than a bottle as this gives great coverage, is long lasting and looks natural all day.
Sephora 8HR mattifying powder in Light - this does a good job of setting my foundation and getting rid of any shine. I bought this at the start of the trip when I was a bit fairer, right now the colour is too light for me so I'll have to shelf this till my tan fades.
Sephora glitter eyeshadow in French Riviera - this is a lovely yellow toned gold which is a great inner corner highlight on tanned skin. It's not the most unique shade, but I quite like it.
Studiomakeup eyeshadow in Fiery Copper - this is so buttery smooth and easy to blend, I wish I'd bought more colours from the range as they were quite cheap too. The colour is unlike anything I own - a warm fiery brown with copper shimmer.
Deborah Milano lipstick in #14 - did I need another purple lipstick? No. Did I want it? Yes. Enough said.

Let's have a look at a few swatches of some of the above.
L/R: Arcancil blush in Baby Corail, Studiomakeup e/s in Fiery Copper, Sephora e/s in French Riviera, Deborah Milano lipstick in #14

Well, there you have it, my beauty haul from France. I did buy a few more things from Armenia and Dubai, but I'll do another post on that later.

Have you tried any of the products I mentioned in this post?

  8. Fabulous haul! I bet it is challenging with a child, but you did a great job. I've heard wonderful things about the sinful nail polish lacquer.

  10. Hi lilith, I see great products here! I know Arcancil and Deborah quite well as I own several products from both brands: arcancil blushes are great but their pencils aren't creamy; deborah lippies are well pigmented but not long lasting; I also own 3 from their eyeshadow trios: great colors but light pigmentation. I see that you picked up Nuxe's oil: I use it for my hair generously a few hours before taking a bath, once a week, and I'm quite satisfied. Have a nice day
