The one where I had my portrait done and I wasn't wearing makeup! (And a giveaway!)

Remember a few weeks ago I mentioned that I was trying a new face wash by Clearasil? (Click HERE for that post). Well, as part of that campaign I was given the opportunity to have my portrait sketched. By a real artist. Yeah, I thought it was pretty cool too. The aim of course being that I would feel comfortable in my own skin to put my best face forward.

So on the day of my portrait session I glammed up, put on a bright lippy, and went to meet the artist.... Only to be told "Ummm... you know you're not supposed to be wearing makeup, right?".  Actually, no. If I had known I had to go bare-faced I would have done my best to fake a no-makeup-makeup look! But instead here I was standing in the artist's room and wiping my makeup off before sitting down to have my portrait sketched... makeup free! No carefully concealed spots, no contouring, no rosy cheeks, no glossy lips.

And you know what? I didn't mind at all! My skin was in great condition, I was having a good hair day, and I felt confident enough to not only let someone not related to me see me without makeup, but to also sketch my portrait! So, do you want to see what I look like without makeup?
A draft sketch and the final product by the artist, Kate Louise

So what do I think of the Clearasil Vitamins & Extracts daily face wash, now that I've been using it for about 2 weeks? Before I get to that, just a quick reminder of what the product is all about. Clearasil Vitamins & Extracts daily face wash:
  • Contains Vitamin E, pomegranate and avocado extracts to help maintain clear skin
  • Has much less salicylic acid (the active ingredient to get rid of pimples) so is less drying
  • Is gentle enough to be used every day
  • Can also be used as a face mask

I have been using this wash every single morning since I got it. It has a refreshing scent, very zingy (is that a word?) which I find quite addictive. It's very creamy and feels luxurious as I massage it into my skin, and it rinses off easily with warm water. No scrubbing necessary.

But of course you're probably wondering how my skin feels after using this. As you may remember, since I already have fairly clear skin, my biggest worry was that the change in skincare would irritate my skin, possibly even cause it to break out. But nothing like that happened. My skin did not freak out. Yay. My skin does feel a tad dry straight after using it, but lets not forget I already have fairly dry skin so a moisturiser is a must for me anyway. My skin feels much smoother and looks clearer. You could say that this has given me a good canvas on which to put my war paint on!

I'm really not surprised by the results as in a trial by Clearasil, 3 out of 4 women said they loved the way the Vitamins & Extracts products made their skin look and feel*.

  3. I love most Clearasil products, I've always found them to be effective and the new Vitamins and Extracts range seems suitable for older skin as by the way you've described it to be gentle and moisturizing. Would love to try it.

  5. Hello! Slightly off topic but what lipstick are you wearing in the top photo before you were forced (lol) to remove the war paint?? It kind of looks like MAC Up the Amp to me, which I love :) I just stumbled across your blog and I can tell I'm going to love it!
