Jane Iredale Glow Time BB Cream review & photos

Recently I was given a chance to trial the new Jane Iredale Glow Time Full Coverage Mineral BB Cream (phew, that's a mouthful!). This BB cream is SP25, water resistant for 40 minutes, promises to smooth and brighten skin and minimise environmental damage. I've been wearing this on and off for about a month now, so it's time I give you my verdict.

Colours
There are 6 colours in the range, which is very good if you look at this as a BB Cream, as most BB Creams only come in a couple of shades. But, if you're looking at this as if it's a foundation, the colours are a bit limited. The colours are BB1, BB3, BB5, B7, BB9 and BB11. There is a huge difference between the shades. THIS post here has good swatches of all the colours so you can see the difference between the shades. I'm normally a MAC NC25 and I was matched to JI shade in B5. I find B5 slightly too yellow and light for my complexion but the next shade up is way too dark. I normally set this with a slightly darker face powder in order to make BB5 workable for me.

Consistency
It's very thick and almost gel like. You need just a tiny, I repeat, tiny amount to cover your entire face. I normally like to use my fingers to wear my base but with this BB Cream I had to use a buffing brush to really get it to sink into my skin.

Coverage
Flawless. I can't think of a better word. This covers all imperfections and leaves my skin looking smooth with a natural glow. And because the BB Cream is so thick and opaque, you can even use it as a concealer.

Longevity
This is where this BB Cream lost me. I prefer a long lasting base, so I tend to go for full coverage foundations as they last longer on my skin. This lasts about 3 hours on my skin before starting to wear off around my chin and nose areas. However it's important to remember this is a BB Cream, not a foundation, therefore it's unfair to compare it to foundations.

Bottom line
If you're looking for a BB Cream that is good to your skin and provides a flawless finish, this is perfect for you. If you're looking for a base that you can wear all day without the need for frequent touch ups then perhaps a long lasting foundation is what you should look at. Instead, take this Jane Iredale BB Cream on your next beachside holiday where you want to fake a "I'm just naturally this perfect" skin.

  1. This is a very thick bb cream:). Most bb creams in Europe are more like tinted moisturizers and don't cover a lot. Nice review:)

  5. I LOVEEEE this BB Cream - and it gives a pretty decent coverage for a BB Cream!
AND this is the only BB cream that suits my summer shade! :)

  6. Hi Lilit, thanks for your review. Due to the lighter consistency, texture and coverage of BB creams I tend to wear these to work, where I think a lighter touch looks more professional for what I do. So I save foundation for the weekend when I can really experiment with colour and make-up application and really 'be me'. xoxo
