L'Oreal Pro Keratin Haircare Range review

After having a baby my hair became very dry, and because I was too busy with the baby to get myself to a hairdresser I went about 8 months between haircuts. Needless to say this caused my hair to become even more damaged, and full of split ends. You can see my damaged hair from a few months ago in THIS post. So when I was offered to try the L'Oreal Pro Keratin* haircare range I was excited as it promised to "Turn your split end nightmare into a healthy hair dream".

What they say
For a modern woman – split ends are a nightmare! But split ends are only the beginning, with every day factors such as heat-styling and colouring causing weak and damaged hair. But styling your hair shouldn’t mean having to sacrifice its health. Now, with the new L’Oréal Professionnel Série Expert Pro-Keratin collection – you don’t have to. The innovative formula repairs, strengthens and protects hair to increase hair strength by 70%.

My thoughts
I'm not going to lie, I didn't like everything in this range but there were some standout items.

Pro Keratin Correcting Care Shampoo & Conditioner - $26.00 each
I did mention that my hair is dry, right? Well this shampoo and conditioner didn't help to moisturise it much. I think they would be suited more to someone with normal to oily hair. The shampoo was ok, it lathered up beautifully and left my hair feeling clean and fresh, but the conditioner did nothing for my hair. It felt like my hair just drank it up and left still feeling very thirsty. I need a heavy duty conditioner and unfortunately this wasn't it.

Pro Keratin Correcting Care Masque - $31.00
This I liked. It was nice and thick, like butter, but it also was easy to spread onto my hair. I loved that you only needed to leave on your hair for 3 minutes for good results, as I don't have the time for those hair masks that you have to leave on for 30 mins to develop. I use this 2 times a week and my hair feels smoother and sleeker immediately after use.

Pro Keratin Blow Dry Thermo Cream - $26.00
I actually didn't expect to like this at all. Normally leave-in creams leave my hair very weighed down and sticky. But this one was just a dream. Not only did it make my hair feel very smooth and frizz-free, it also protects it against heat styling. I apply a tiny bit of this on the ends of my towel dried hair and then dry/style as normal. This was definitely my favourite product from the range.
My hair today - ignore the flyaway hair near my part, that's actually new hair that's growing after my hair started falling out after having a baby.

Final thoughts
Everyone knows that you can't fix split ends. You can seal them temporarily but the only way to "fix" them is to cut them off, which is what I did a few weeks ago. My hair feels healthier and I especially love the blow-dry thermo cream as my hair feels very smooth and easy to heat style. If you have very dry hair like I do, I'd give the shampoo/conditioner a miss as it's not moisturising enough for dry hair, but the blow-dry thermo cream and the mask are ones that you should try if you're interested in the range.

What haircare products are you using now, and are you happy with it?

  2. LOVE that lipcolor on you! I just tried a new hair mask from L'Oreal- Total Repair 5 Damage Erasing Balm (or something to that effect, I'm dyslexic and can't remember the exact wording from walking downstairs back to the computer. Forgive me! lol)

I have big trouble with my haid, not curly but also not straight. Can I use this product to my dry hair?

I think I have same problem with you. after having a baby my hair became very dry and I cut my hair. It's the bad things in my life. I try so many products to makes my hair healthy, but still not makes any change.

    Thanks for sharing your story.

    1. Hi Antie, if your hair is really dry this one will probably not work. The mask will be fine, but the shampoo/conditioner are not rich enough for dry hair.
As for hair after baby, it'll get better. Mine was really bad from when my baby was 4mths to when he was 9th moths, but after that it started getting better again.
      Good luck!
