Review - Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Cream Makeup

I don't own a lot of Elizabeth Arden cosmetics. I guess I always put it in the "mature brand" basket and never really gave them a chance. And yes I know, I'm in my 30s and some people would put me in the "mature" basket too but really, you're only as old as you feel and despite the grey hair masked by hair dye I feel like I'm still in my 20s. Anyway, I was recently sent this foundation to try and let me tell you it's put the brand back on my radar.

Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Sponge-On Cream Make up

What they say

Elizabeth Arden introduces a new and improved version of the beloved Flawless Finish Sponge-On Cream Makeup. With radiance-boosting benefits and improved complexion-perfecting ingredients, this skin- balancing foundation leverages the brand’s skincare technology and color expertise to offer women a beautiful, luminous finish.

The reformulated Flawless Finish Sponge-On Cream Makeup has a creamy texture that glides effortlessly over skin for a flawless, radiant finish. Infused with micronized diamond powder, this light-reflecting foundation manipulates and scatters light to diffuse the look of imperfections. Immediately, the look of fine lines, pores, blemishes, scars and dark spots are diminished. Skin appears smoother and more even in tone, as luminosity and radiance are boosted. This moisturizing formula offers medium to full coverage that feels comfortable and lasts all day. The result? Skin appears naturally youthful for a look that’s simply flawless.

The beautiful compact comes with a mirror under the lid and a sponge in the bottom deck for on-the go touch-ups

What I say

Colour
In Australia this foundation is available in 6 shades: Beige, Gentle Beige, Perfect Beige, Softly Beige, Toasty Beige and Vanilla. Below are swatches of Vanilla, Beige (my current shade) and Softly Beige as compared to MAC NC25 foundation.

Coverage
This is a medium to full coverage foundation, though you can get a much more sheer coverage if you apply it with a damp sponge. I prefer medium/full coverage so I normally apply it with a dry sponge and then buff it with my Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki Brush to make sure I've blended all in. Below is a photo of my skin without any makeup on, and with only this foundation on (no concealer or powder).

Longevity
This foundation lasts about 12hours on me, but I do set it with a powder (MAC MSFN in Medium). It's a semi-matte finish which helps it last so long. Also being semi-matte, it's not as flat as other matte foundations can be.

The bottom line
This is a great foundation for those that love a medium to full cover. It's long lasting but not as flat as some matte foundations can be. It would suit those with normal to dry skin as those with oilier skins might find the foundation a tad heavy. This will be the foundation I wear when I return to work next month as it gives a polished appearance without the need for touch ups.

  2. I started using EA products because I'm in my 30's and started becoming mature. It's a great brand for both skin care and makeup.

You have naturally beautiful skin, but I do see how this foundation provided a nice veil. Looks great.

    1. I really need to pay more attention to the brand next time I'm in the department store as I really like everything I've tried from them so far (this foundation, a lippy and some eyeshadows in the past). And thanks for your comment re my skin.... it has it's problems but I'm happy with it most of the time. :)

  4. Yep, looks totally gorgeous on you. I've being searching for a good compact powder for touch ups during the day and when I need to go out after work, (and don't want to redo my makeup) and this looks like it might be good. Can you apply it properly with a brush Lilit, or is it best applied with sponge? Thanks:)

    1. Hi hun, this is a cream product so I'm not sure it's the type of compact you're searching for? But yes you can apply it with a foundation brush as well, though it would give a more sheer coverage that way. Hope that helps! xo

  7. I adore this foundy - it is great to act as just an under eye concealer too if you just need a tiny bit of coverage and blends magnificently.

  8. Nice colour:) Flawless Finish is great. I've tried many foundations and yet I always go back to buying this one. I'm sad that the old compact in the black case and lovely mirror is going-in place of the new one, such a shame. Will have to stock upon some :)
