Lipstick Love - Illamasqua "Over"

No matter the weather or season (it's winter in Australia) no other makeup item makes me feel better than a bright lipstick.
On lips: Illamasqua lippy in "Over. On cheeks: Illamasqua cream blush in "Sob"

Illamasqua lipstick in Over
I bought this at the same time that I bought the cream blush in Sob, during the Illamasqua sale at Myer. The colour immediately jumped out at me, how could it not? It's bright, it's orange, and it's Illamasqua.

I won't go on an on about why I love Illamasqua lippies, but here are a couple of quick points about this particular one.
- matte formula so stays on the lips for hours
- is less drying than my other matte lippies from Illamasqua
- it will accentuate any dry flaky bits on lips so make sure to moisturise and exfoliate lips first
- highly pigmented and applies true to colour no matter what your natural lip shade

Swatches & Comparisons

Here are some lip swatches in various lighting.

And here is how Illamasqua "Over" compares to a few other orangey toned lippies for your reference.

What do you think of this colour? Is it something you'd wear or is it too bright?

  15. Hi Dear! :)
I have a "tough" question for you. I love peachy-looks. I am quite blonde (not platinum!!), fair skin (NC 20 more or less, neutral/ warm undertone). I would like to buy a combo of blush+ lipstick from Illamasqua (never tried this brand, but reviews say it's worthy!). I would like to achieve a very natural, portable, peachy look for everyday makeup. What would you suggest me?
I was looking probably at "Lover" as a blush. But for the lipstick I am really undecided (among Obey, Over and Brick maybe...but likely there will be other options..). Everything seems so "bright" from the swatches on illamasqua.com! I cannot decide! :(
Can you suggest something for me? (Blush + lipstick)? thanks REALLY a lot! Cate

    1. Hi Cate,
great choice with "Lover" as the blush. It's seriously the best peachy/apricot shade there is and I think it suits a lot of different complexions. I'd give "Over" a miss if you're not into bright colours as it's very bright in person. I haven't seen Brick in person so not sure what that's like but "Obey" would be my pick. The only problem with "Obey" is if you ever tan and get darker than say NC25 then it would look too concealer like on you. Sorry can't help any further than that with the lipsticks, but the blush is definitely a great choice!
