Illamasqua Cream Blush in Sob - review, swatches & comparison

What's that? Another Illamasqua purchase? I'm obsessed with the brand, what can I say. Especially when they're on sale!

The husband and I spent a rainy Saturday in Myer Sydney City which means I made a beeline straight for the Illamasqua counter. Imagine my total joy when I saw that most Illamasqua products were 20 - 40% off. The cream blushes were 40% off so of course I went straight for them, as their formula is to die for. I already own Laid (reviewed HERE) and Rude (reviewed HERE) so this time I went for the baby pink Sob.

Illamasqua Cream Blush in Sob
  • Like all other cream blushes from Illamasqua, this feels very light and non sticky.
  • Very easy to blend on the cheeks using your fingers or a kabuki brush
  • I normally wear it over my powdered skin and I find not only does it not go patchy, it also stays on all day.
  • The colour of Sob is a very cool icy pink so I can't say it's a suit-all colour. You absolutely must try this on your own skintone before you buy it. I'm currently MAC NC25 and if I was any darker this wouldn't show up on my skin or would just look unnatural.
  • Can also be worn on the lips, but is very drying so a lip balm is essential.

Here are some swatches of Sob and a comparison to my other Illamasqua pink cream blush, Laid.

And here's how it looks on my NC25 skintone.

I believe the Illamasqua sale at Myer continues until 15th July so if you're after anything from the brand now is the time to buy it.

Have you tried any of the Illamasqua cream blushes yet?

  2. That is a beautiful shade of pink! It reminds me a little of the cream blush I bought from Topshop a little while ago. On a random note, thanks so much for your alert on the Malware on my blog Lilit. All fixed now thank goodness and I identified (and unfollowed) the referring site causing the problem. I'm tempted to resurrect my blog roll but am a bit nervous still. Are you going to restore yours or leave as is?

    1. Glad the Malware issue got sorted, that was very annoying! I might wait a bit before resurrecting my blog roll as I don't know what blog caused it and I just don't want to take chances at the moment.

    1. You absolutely have to babe, foundations and powders were also 40% off and pretty much everything else was 20% off. I need to go back!

  10. Ooh this is super bright in the pan. It reminds me a little of Bobbi Brown Peony from the photos, looks great on your skintone. What do you think it would be like on someone blonde and fairly pale? x

    1. Oh this is much lighter than Bobbi Brown Peony and it's probably a better match for someone blonde and pale than for someone like me as if I was just a tiny shade darker than NC25 this would just look too icy on me. In terms of paleness this blush is probably closer to MAC Pink Swoon, but just much cooler toned.

  11. ZOMG I need to go check out Myers now! Love Illamasqua, but haven't tried their cream blushes yet, just powder. Sob (I keep reading it as Son of a B....) looks like the perfect amount of pale for my white complexion.

  16. Very pretty! Reminds me of my MAC Tickled Pink CCB :) I'm so jealous that you found this at the Illamasqua sale, when I was down in Melbourne the counter had been pretty much raided!
