5 ways to get more wear out of a too-pale lipstick

Meet Illamasqua Plunge. It's a lovely mauve pink colour in the tube but I just can't wear it on its own without looking like a throwback from the 60s mod era. Or a contestant on "Snog Marry Avoid" (PS: have you discovered that show yet? Hilarious!)

It's one of those lipsticks that requires work to actually look good on me. So if you have a lipstick that you just can't wear because it's too pale, here are 5 ways to get more wear out of it.

What lipstick do you own that needs a lot of work in order to look good?

  2. Great post - I have trouble with pale nudes. They make me look like I'm wearing concealer on my lips. Not a good look!

  5. Great tips! I really have to work to make MAC Viva Glam Gaga I work for me, because it's just too pale and cool-toned. I've been wearing it with different lipglosses, and also layering it *under* darker lipsticks. I layer it under MAC I Love Winter and it turns ILW into a more wearable pink ^__^

  7. Urban Decay lipstick in Naked. It's a lot more sheer than I expected it to be.

  10. When I'm tanned MAC Myth is just too light for me and I do look like a Snog Marry Avoid contestant, so I have to tone it down with lipliner and lashings of lipgloss. Great tips. :)

  15. Snog, Marry Avoid? Why can't our shows have hilarious names like that? Anyway, I have one or two too-pale lipsticks (it's easy for lipsticks to be too pale on me so I tend to go bold) This will most definitely be useful in the future. I have MAC Pink Plaid and Honeylove both of which just...don't work on me.
