Belly update - 28 weeks!

Well I've officially entered the last trimester as of today. Apparently in those final 3 months I can look forward to fatigue, bloating and duck-like waddling.

At my last visit the obstetrician thought my belly measured small but she thinks it's because the little monkey is laying in transverse (horizontal) position instead of the head down/bum up way. A few weeks ago he was breech so clearly he's doing acrobatics in there. As long as he turns to the proper position when it's time to make his world debut, he can do as many cartwheels in there as he wants!

I'm enjoying doing baby nursery shopping, but I don't know what things I need and what things are gimmicky optional extras. Like for example baby monitor - will I use it? Or is it one of those things that's only needed if you have a huge house? Or a nappy dispenser - essential? Or just a normal rubbish bin will do? So any mums out there, help on nursery and baby necessities will be most appreciated!

In beauty related news, I'm still too lazy to use any type of moisturiser or oil on my expanding belly. I guess I'm lucky and haven't got a single stretchmark yet, and even if I was to get them, seriously is that such a big deal? They will eventually fade away.

As for makeup,  I'm all about minimal fuss looks with maximum impact. In fact tomorrow's post will be about looking daytime glam with minimum effort so stay tuned for that...

    1. Yummy mummy, ha! I'm just waiting for the day which will inevitably get here when I'll all over a sudden baloon up and lose all my energy and just feel like lazing on the couch like a blimp!

  3. Lilit you look gorgeous!! I've had two beautiful boys and I can honestly say don't bother with the dirty nappy bin. There is no nice way to say this but you really don't want to collect baby no. 2's in one spot. I personally think it doesn't do that good a job of sealing odours. I did use a monitor daily, but have a two story house. If bub's room is close by, you will hear him no matter what. Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.

    1. Thanks Sandra, I definitely don't need a dirty nappy bin but still in 2 minds about a monitor. We have a single story house but spend time in the backyard a bit so it might be needed.

  7. You look divine!!!
Apparently (my sists told me) the stretch marks appear once you give birth and the belly starts going back to normal. Not sure.

    1. Yeah that makes sense! I've also seen some pictures of pregnant bellies with really deep stretch marks so I'm guessing it depends on skin type... Anyways, I'm too lazy to do anything about it now! LOL.

    1. My reasoning with the tiramisu is that last time I had a slice baby started wiggling around a lot, so I'm guessing he loved the sweet taste! LOL. xo

  12. You look stunning Lilit! Really beautiful, and I hope to look as lovely as you when I reach 28 weeks!
I'm a little overwhelmed with nursery shopping too! Do I need to spend $1000 on a cot? Or is $200 ok? I don't know!!
As for a nappy dispenser- I will CERTAINLY be getting one! I'm not even sure why...

    KEEP US UPDATED!!!

    1. Aaw thanks hun, I'm sure you will look gorgeous! We need to see your belly updates too!

Oh and re cot, we spent $500 on a Boori Urbane Yarra w/mattress, which seems just as good as the $1000 ones.

  13. I do hear that the nappy dispensers cut down on the smell, but you could always use scented trash bags I suppose? Or baking soda? Lilit! Take care of your belly! You never know when the stretch mark will rear its ugly head. Nag nag nag!

    1. I'll prob be going for the scented trash bags, it seems more convenient than getting yet another rubbish bin specifically for nappies. Aah so much to buy! As for stretch marks, nah still too lazy to do something about it! LOL.

  18. I didn't think we needed a "nappy bin" either - but, boy was I wrong. The Diaper Genie is indispensable. After taking a dirty, smelly diaper outside to the bin every few hours, I broke down and bought one with a Babies R Us gift card. Take it from me, once your little man starts on solids you will want one really, really bad. My recommendation is to either save a few gift cards for the things you thought you didn't want (like a Diaper Genie) or go ahead and register for one and take it back if you never use it.

    1. Thanks Neena, maybe I'll add the Diaper Genie to "things I might need to buy later" list and see how I go after the baby is here.

  20. You look gorgeous!

The baby monitor might be good if you are on a different level than the baby. We had one and it wasn't a total waste of money. You surely don't need one of those really expensive ones. With regard to the diaper genie, I totally agree with the previous poster. That certainly came in handy and made a difference.

  21. you're gorge! here's my two cents on necessary items that i found super helpful. my baby is 9mos and it seems like just yesterday when i had her...lol. so my best tip is take LOTS of pictures of everything cute, funny, etc., you see your LO little one do b/c boy do they grow so fast!! but back to the things you mentioned...you'll need a diaper bin...badly. at first not so much so don't feel like you have to run out and get it...at least not for the first 3mos. but don't waste money on getting a fancy smancy one either. when my baby started eating homemade solid foods i made her, i decided i finally needed one. i used a small plastic trash can that has a flip top (that you can step on) but the trick is to use it strictly for diapers with SCENTED BAGS and for some reason, the vanilla scented trash bags work best wonders (over the lavender, and orange ones)!! and my house doesn't smell at all. my sister has diaper genie and her living room smells...lol. also, you will really find an ergonomic baby carrier super helpful to soothe a crying baby. after doing tons of research i found ergobaby was the best option for me b/c i'm petite and wanted something ergonomic for my posture. when baby got fuzzy, ERGOBABY always soothed her to sleep. i used it as soon as she was 1month old with an ergo insert b/c she was too small. also, now that she's crawling and putting everything she sees in her mouth, and when i'm tired of running after her everytime i just pop her in the ergo carrier and do my chores (dishes, laundry, walk dogs potty) and she stays b/c she got used to it and likes it a lot actually. another super helpful tip for me was having the right swaddle blankets and learning how to swaddle which allowed me for longer sleep at nights b/c baby wasn't waking up with her jerky-arm or leg reflexes anymore once swaddled. i like the aden and anais best b/c they're light and breathable...and tho a little pricey...my baby doesn't wake up drenched in sweat with these. let's see...if you plan to breastfeed...invest in a breastfriend and not the boppy pillow although the boppy came in handy for when my baby started learning to sit up and the pillow protected her side falls. now, another thing.l.. breastfeeding. if you plan to do it, get ready b/c it freaking HURTS bad...but if you can stick to it as much as you can handle b/c breastmilk is the best food you can give your baby. by the grace of GOD i'm still breastfeeding and i love the bonding moments with my LO but breastfeeding is not for everyone...so if you can't stick it out, don't beat yourself up...you tried, even if you only gave your baby one week time... you're still gonna be a great mom and your baby is gonna do fine. what helped me get thru it tho is a special nipple creme by motherlove that works wonders (and for many others as well -based on the reviews) b/c it wasn't sticky but it does leave an oily residue so make sure you always have nursing removable pads handy...preferably made out of organic bamboo material b/c anything and everything seemed bothersome except those. also bras are hard to find so invest in something that is wireless and gives you support and being small chested i love using sport bras with a thin strap normally 1-size up than i normally wear, and carry an extra set of pads in your purse for the unexpected moment when you get a let-down and your boobs start leaking. ok maybe i said too much but i hope it helps. congratulations!

    1. Thank you so much for all your tips! I'm definitely looking at the Ergobaby carrier as I've heard so much good stuff about those, and I got gifted a few good swaddles at the baby shower so I'm hoping they'll be easy to use. There were also a few scented bags included in the baby shower gifts from knowledgable mums :-). I'm feeling somewhat less overwhelmed by it all at the moment, but that will probably change as the birth date gets closer!
