Macadamia Oil Deep Repair Mask Review with Before & After photos

After I posted about my disappointment with the Moroccan Oil Intense Hydrating Mask I received suggestions for other hair masks to try. The one that intrigued me most was the Macadamia Oil Deep Repair Mask (thanks Melanie from Sweet Something!). The very next day I marched into Price Attack and bought a 250ml tub for $29.95.

I have thick hair with very dry, damaged ends so I need something very hydrating but one that will not weigh my hair down as I also like a bit of volume in my hair. This mask ticks all the boxes for me.

  • The smell took me by surprise actually. I expected a sweet, nutty smell, almost like the Brazil Nut body butter from The Body Shop. But instead what I got was a fresh, clean, almost floral but still nutty smell. I absolutely love the smell, and I'm known nor not using perfectly good products because I don't like the smell. This one is divine.
  • The consistency is very thick but easy to spread through wet hair. You basically leave it on 5-10 then rinse.
  • It doesn't weigh my thick hair down, and whether I straighten or curl my hair afterwards it looks and feels beautifully healthy.
  • It makes my hair feel really soft, but not limp. This is very important to me as I hate limp hair that's stuck to my scalp... I feel it just emphasises the roundness of my cheeks which is why I prefer my hair to have volume.
  • This would be perfect for someone with thick and dry hair, but if you have fine hair I'd steer clear of it as it might be too heavy.
  • I will absolutely 100% repurchase this again when it runs out. It's THAT good.

And here are some pics of my hair before I started using the Macadamia Oil Deep Repair Mask, and after. As you can see there is a noticeable improvement in looks, shine and smoothness.

Have you tried this mask before? What are some of your favourites?

  3. Everyone raves about this mask so much, I think it's time for me to give it a try. I do like the lush jasmin one, but because of the essential oils I can't use it too often. Does this hair mask scent linger in your hair?

    1. No the smell doesn't linger though I wish it did. It's not an offensive smell at all. I haven't tried any of the Lush masks as they seem too messy but this one is perfect.

  5. Great review! I've been curious about this mask for a while.

Lately I've been using the Pureology Hydracure Intense Moisture Masque. I highly recommend it! It makes your hair look & feel like silk afterwards and the smell is intoxicating! I love smelling it in my hair after I use it :)

  9. I was about to purchase the Lush Hsuah Sen Huwah (or something like that - no idea how to say or spell it) hair mask this week but I didn't get around to it. I've never used a hair mask before but I've been dyeing my hair for over a year now and I think it's time I use some treatments haha. Looks like I'll try this one out instead of the Lush one!! So you use this one wet hair and not dry hair?

    1. Also how much did you use for one mask? How many uses do you think you could get out of it? Sorry for all the questions! :)

    2. Hi Sue, for my hair I scoop out maybe a 3cm dollop and apply it to newly shampooed wet hair. I've had the tub for over a month, I use it 2 times a week and I'm not even half way down the container. Depends on how often you use it I guess, but I think for me this should last about 3 months. Hope that helps!

    3. Thank you! I went out today in search of this but didn't find it (okay I didn't extensively search, just went to one pharmacy haha) but I did find the Organix Hydrating Macadamia Oil Intensive Moisture Mask for $17.69 for 237mL and that's close enough to this one so I'm super excited to give it a try!!!

Anyways, thank you! :) I went to look for this today but couldn't see this exact brand so I settled on the Organix Hydrating Macadamia Oil Intensive Moisture Mask which was $17.69 for 237ml. I'm so excited to try it!

    5. Weird about your comment, because I actually received the email with the first comment in there, but I can't see it posted here. Hmmm... Blogger better not be acting up. Also I've been using the Organix Macadamia Oil Shampoo/Conditioner and loving it, so hopefully their mask is just as good!

    1. I haven't experienced any problems with this mask, but if you think this is what's causing your hairfall then definitely don't continue with it or see a professional about it. Hope the hairfall stops!
