Nails by Polished London

Firstly I'd like to say a huge thank you for all your lovely comments on my last post. It means so much to me to hear all your supportive thoughts and well wishes. Thank you!

Being "up the duff", one of the pregnancy beauty myths I researched was whether it's still ok to wear nail polish while pregnant and all the reputable websites said yes but best to use ones without formaldehyde and toluene.

So when I was at my local pharmacy and noticed the Polished London nail polish stand and it said in big lettering 4 FREE (as in free from toluene, formaldehyde, camphor and DBP), guess who made a beeline for said stand? And the fact that the colours were gorgeous fashion colours, with a price tag of $7.99 each it was bingo for me!

I had to restrain myself and get only 2 colours (after all, I was at the pharmacy to buy sore throat medicine for the husband, not for beauty hauling for me!), but chances are I'll be going back for more. I picked up Guava (coral red) and Mauve Mandy (greyed mauve). I've swatched them both below. Both dried in no time at all, less than 10 minutes for 2 coats.

I've got Guava on currently and it's still going strong on day 3. I will have to say that the application of Mauve Mandy was much better, and it gave a lovely opaque coverage in 2 coats whereas Guava was slightly runnier and I should have gone with 3 coats.

I'd never heard of the brand Polished London before, and even after doing a bit of research I'm still confused. The bottle says it's made in Scotland, but from what I could find they're only sold in Australia (?). If anyone knows any better let me know! Their website has a tool you can use to find your nearest stockist, although I will say that the pharmacy I bought mine from was not listed so the list might not be complete.

And just for fun, here's an Instagram picture I took of my nails wearing Guava today at the beach. Yep, perfect summer colour! (Note: the colour is not an accurate representation here due to the Instagram filters)

Have you heard of Polished London? Which colour do you like?

  2. guava is really delicious. Its perfect for summer. By the way was this a big brand chemist or a small independent?

  3. Candice - they're fantastic, hope they start selling them at more places soon!

thebeautydispensary - it was just a smallish discount chemist, no name. Check their website, they have a list of stockists there.
