OCC Liptars - swatches and review

I bought my first 3 OCC Liptars 6 months ago, which I reviewed originally HERE. Since then I've bought 3 new colours from Makeup And Glow to add to my collection, but I realised I hadn't swatched or really mentioned them on the blog even though I've had them for a few months now.

L/R: Cha Cha, Memento, Hush, Divine, Pageant, Trollop

Here's the complete set of my OCC Liptars, all on the one page, with swatches.

Cha Cha had separated in the tube, which is why the colour looks a bit runny. After squeezing out the oily top, the rest of it is fine.

Cha Cha: It's a pastel orange colour which is very difficult to wear on its own. In fact I've never actually worn it on its own before. That said, it's a great mixer colour, i.e. you can mix it with different colours to change the tone or shade of it.

Memento: It's a muted MLBB pink. It's not really my favourite, though there is nothing wrong with the colour itself. I prefer my lip colours to have more of an impact, and this one is a bit too dull on my lips. It is however great at toning down other brighter colours, such as Divine.

Hush: This is one of my favourites of the lot. It's a wonderful nudey pink that is very easy to wear. It's very similar in colour to MAC Hue lipstick. In fact HERE is a post where I compared the two.

Divine: This is a bright candy pink with fluoro coral undertones. This is one of the newer shades I've acquired. I think this would be great in summer with a tan and with the sun shining brightly. But for now this looks great dulled down with Memento. HERE is a look with that combo.

Pageant: This is one of my newest additions too, and is my favourite of the lot. It's a bright fuchsia pink with blue undertones. It's not for the faint hearted, but if you're into colours like MAC Girl About Town and NARS Schiapp, then this is for you.

Trollop: I'm actually quite disappointed with this colour. I was expecting a more vibrant red, but even though it looks quite bright in the swatches, in real life it looks kinda dull on me. It has brown undertones, which doesn't appeal to me. I'll be using this as a mixer colour as well.

What I like about the Liptars:
  • Long lasting
  • Great choice of colours
  • Can be mixed with other colours to create unique shades
  • A little goes a long way

What I dislike:
  • They are fiddly to apply. You HAVE to use a lipbrush to apply, there is simply no other way without making a mess of your lips
  • It can leave a dry ring around the inner lips as it wears off

Have you tried any OCC Liptars? What colours do you have and like?

  10. Great swatches- I have wanted some lip tars for a while but haven't taken the plunge yet. I really want Cha Cha in a serious way- knowing me and my orange obsession I would probably try to wear it on its own, but I love your idea of using it to mix with other colors.

  17. @Catanya - thanks hun

@Kelly - Hush is beautiful, it's one of my faves and very easy to wear.

@Krystal - LOL, yes you probably would get Cha Cha and it would look amazing on you on its own!

@Heather - You only need to use a tiny bit of these, otherwise it really does get so messy.

@EV - Pageants my fave! I'm still getting used to Trollop though, it pulls a bit brown on me.

@Mercedes - I think I've seen Interlace on your blog and I was so tempted to buy it after seeing it there, but then I mixed Cha Cha and Hush and it looked very much like Interlace so saved some money there! LOL

@Bethany - thank hun, I know you asked for swatches so I'm glad you found this useful.

@Roiver - thanks so much, they're really good and will last you for ages as you only need to use a tiny bit.
@Joy - thanks heaps, they are all great colours but Pageant is def my favourite of the bright ones.
