MAC Chatterbox (right) is a lovely pink which is quite warm toned and suits most skintones. This is something I'd been lusting after for a long time, but my local MAC counter had always sold out. So when I finally saw it about a month ago I had to get it. NYX Fig (left) is something I've had for ages, it's one of my favourite go to pinks.

I'd never considered Fig to be a dupe for Chatterbox until I was searching for lipsticks to use during my lipstick challenge, and swatched both at the same time.

While they are not 100% dupes, I think they're still pretty close. Fig is a bit warmer and lighter on the lips than Chatterbox.

In terms of formula, Chatterbox is longer lasting and has that lovely vanilla smell that all MAC lippies have. But the price difference is enormous! In Australia Chatterbox retails for $36aud, vs NYX which I bought for around $4aud from Crush Cosmetics. So if you're loooking for Chatterbox but can't find it and you're craving a similar colour, Fig might be the way to go.

Nice to know there is a dupe for Chatterbox! Sadly i cannot get Nyx here...but i love my MAC! It is my favourite pink :-)
ReplyDeleteLilit, I've been trying to get Chatterbox for a couple of months now! the Mac girl at David Jones in the city told me she's pretty sure they are discontinuing it as they haven't had it in stock for about 12 months! Myer Sydney never have it either! Where did you find it? The lovely Mac girl gave me a good tip though: MAC Vegas Volt + MAC Girl About Town (which I already owned) = CHatterbox when mixed together! So I picked up Vegas Volt with my back to mac and now I have both! I would still like to track down Chatterbox on its own though! It's so pretty xx

ReplyDelete@Angie - I got it from Myer in the city just over a month ago actually. And before then I'd gone to Parra Myer who put my name down for a special order, i got a call from them a few weeks ago saying it had arried but by then I'd already bought mine. So as far as I can see it's not discontinued! But great tip about mixing the two lipsticks to get the colour.

I really love that colour. It's one that might suit me so I might get it in the NYX Fig. Buying a NYX lipstick like that is always a good idea if you want to try the colour - if it doesn't suit me then I haven't spent $36. If it does (and if MAC ever actually have it) then I could always buy that version.

ReplyDelete@Kath - Good idea, as MAC lipsticks are so ridiculously overpriced here that you wouldn't want to waste your $$ on something that might not suit you.

ReplyDeleteThe MAC dupes provided by low-end brands are endless! There really is no point in paying so much more, when there are many affordable options out there...and they don't lack quality, either!

The Nyx colour looks great! I must place an order for some nyx stuff, haven't tried any of it yet! reading blogs has definitely impacted on my savings haha
