Blogger swap haul

Last weekend I met some lovely Sydney bloggers for yum cha and beauty swapping. It was organised by the beautiful Kimmy from The Plastic Diaries who has actually sick on the day but didn't let that stop her from being a great hostess.

Here is my loot from the day... I tried not to be greedy and only picked up things that I would actually use! I will do a proper review of them as I use them.

  • M.A.C Mineralise Skinfinish Natural in Medium - my exact colour which I bought not too long ago! It's hardly been used, and I have a sneaking suspicion it was brought in by Lara of The Swatchgirl fame.
  • Orly Matte nailpolish in Purple Velvet
  • L.A. Girls Brites nailpolish in Platform
  • Inglot loose bronzer - gorgeous shade with a hint of shimmer, almost brand new.
  • StyliStyle lip pencil in Monte Carlo
  • L'oreal eyeshadow in Silver Brown
  • Benefit High Brow - I actually use this on the inner corners of my eyes to brighten them up, instead of on my brow bone.
  • China Glaze nailpolishes in V and Peachy Keen - I'm wearing V on my nails in the pic below. As soon as I got home from the blogger meet I had to try it on, so it's actually worn over old polish and it's so lovely and opaque it covered everything perfectly.

China Glaze polish - V

For the beauty swap all the girls had brought in their unwanted beauty goodies, some of them absolute gems! We put everything on the table at the yum cha place and congregated around the table. When Kimmy hit "record" on her camera, we all started grabbing what we wanted while still trying to appear lady like.

Below is a picture of the table with our loot on it... I must say it was a tad embarassing to have 20 girls standing around the table trying to behave at the face of all that make-up!

Our "loot" - some of the goodies had already been taken, this is probably only 3/4 of what was on the table to begin with.

We also got given some surprise goody bags courtesy of Face of Australia. Thank you FOA! Below is a pic of my goodies... I'm yet to use the eyeshadow (which are my perfect shades!) and the nailpolish, but the Mineral Lip Shine in Fairly Floss hasn't left my handbag since I got it. It's this perfect cross between a lipstick and a lipbalm. It deserves its own review, so I won't go on about it now.

All up it was a fun day. Not only did I get to meet the beauties in person, but I ended up with so many goodies all at the cost of yum cha.

I highly encourage my lovely readers to organise your own swap parties, as it's amazing what you can end up with.

  1. Ooh i love FOA goodies! Do you own anything prior to this loot? I wish they had some Brissie meet ups. Although I doubt they'd let me in haha! They sound like great fun!

  2. I've got a lot of FOA nailpolishes including a dupe for Chanel Particulaire (FOA Foxy Roxy). Their bronzers are great quality too. The foundation/ concealer/ powders seem good quality but I couldn't find a match to my skintone (they were too pink based for me).

There are a few Brissie bloggers out there and I'm sure they'd love to have you at their meets! Not sure if you're following them... http://hauteandstylish.blogspot.com/ and http://hipnhaute.wordpress.com/ are both fromo Brissie and great girls to follow!

It was really lovely to meet you the other day - I haven't had a chance to try your macaroon making tips yet, but I promise I will this week!
I thought of you today actually, because my husband is bringing me home an Adriano Zumbo Macaroon tonight!

  13. If a Brisbane blogger organises this in Brisbane, I'm in! Maybe it should be a yearly event in every state?
